Mr. Maynard Moses Ward

WARD, Mr. Maynard Moses - Age 54, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 at MediLodge of Midland-Midland, MI. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 p.m. Min. Anthony Floyd, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble in the Chapel 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Ward will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Mr. Maynard Moses Ward was born May 17, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Lucille Patrick and Bernie Ward. He was a long time resident of New York, but lived in Flint, MI, the last 6 years of his life. Maynard accepted Christ at an early age. He graduated from Western House High School in Brooklyn, NY. He also attended CUNY University of New York; Brooklyn College, where he studied Business Management. Maynard was an entrepreneur for the majority of his life. He was a self-starter and a go-getter and he had no problem being his own boss. He established a company by the name of “National Career Center” and two online retail businesses by the names of “American Payment System” and “Pay for Less”. In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, he worked as a graphic designer consultant for Verizon for ten years prior to him becoming ill. Maynard was such a talented individual. He loved to entertain and he enjoyed sports. Singing was his passion. He had a voice that lifted spirits and brought joy to many. Maynard had a bubbly personality and bright, uplifting smile. He was a friend to many and loved by all that crossed paths with him. Maynard leaves to cherish his memory: longtime companion of 22 years, Dina Edmonds (Flint, MI); daughter, Paris Ward (Wichita Falls, TX); son, Maynard Ward Jr. (Orlando, FL); grandchildren, Niara Hightower and Cameron Gill (both of Wichita Falls, TX); mother, Lucille Patrick (Flint, MI); 3 sisters, Debbra Jackson (Flint, MI), Connie Hammond (Greensboro, NC), Ann Ward (Bethel, NC); 1 brother, Dexter Ward and sister-in-law, Tina Ward (Tampa, FL); 1 uncle, Moses Patrick (New Bern, NC); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Maynard was proceeded in death by his father, Bernie Ward; sisters, Sue Thompson and Peggy Spencer; brothers, James Bernie Ward and Milton Lee Ward; and brother-in-law, James Rowsey. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of MediLodge Nursing Home of Midland, MI, Hurley Medical Center, Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church.
