Maxine Rivers

RIVERS, Mrs. Maxine - Age 72, passed away Friday, January 27, 2006 at Genesys Hospice Care Center. Family hour 11AM Thursday, February 2, 2006 at St. James C.O.G.I.C, 2229 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon. Eld. Eddie Parrish, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Thursday. Mrs. Rivers will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 11AM-8PM Wednesday. Mrs. Maxine Delores Rivers was born on February 27, 1933 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mamie and Eddie Felton. Maxine attended the Flint Public schools, graduating from Central High School. Shortly thereafter she was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Parrish, and to this union 9 children were born. She was employed by AC Sparkplug, Greene Home for Funeral, a Nursing Home and Flint Public Schools. She later married Elder Richard Rivers. Maxine was an active member of St. James C.O.G.I.C. for several years, under the pastorage of Supt. B.T. Stephen. She served on the Hospitality Board and also worked with the Sunshine Band. Later, Elder Eddie Parrish became Pastor of the New St. James Memorial C.O.G.I.C., where she remained a member until 2005 at which time she joined her son?s church, The Rock C.O.G.I.C. Mrs. Maxine Delores Rivers leaves to cherish sweet precious memories: 11 children, Regina Washington, Elder Robert (Dorothy) Parrish, Kevin Parrish, Sheri (Elder Ernest) Hodgers, LaDedra (James) Graham, Stephon (Chae) Parrish of Columbia, TN, Inger Parrish, Richard (Sharmona) Rivers of Beaufort, SC, Kwane (Beverly) Rivers, Donnetta Rivers, and Mimi Rivers; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Janet Felton and Valerie Stocker Lee; brother, Amadeus Hasson; in-laws, Naomi and Oliver Jones of Pontiac, MI; brothers-in-law, Earl Logan and Eld. Eddie Parrish; a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Maxine Delores Rivers was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Richard L. Rivers; son, Dedric Parrish; parents, Mamie and Eddie Parrish; brothers, Eddie and Ronnie Felton; sister, Judy Logan; grandson, Michael Graham. The family would like to extend special thanks to Elder Eddie Parrish and the New St. James Memorial C.O.G.I.C. Church Family, The Rock C.O.G.I.C. Church Family and Bishop and Mrs. Marvin C.
