Ms. Maxine Noakes

NOAKES, Ms. Maxine - Age 67, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, January 13, 2025, at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Charles E. Roots., officiating. Interment, River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Monday. Ms. Noakes will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM- 3:00 PM. Ms. Maxine Noakes was born March 12, 1957 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Eula P. Noakes and James Johnson. Maxine became of resident of Flint, Michigan in 1968. She was a graduate of Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1975.” Maxine was employed at Heritage Manor for over 20 years. She enjoyed cooking and getting her family together. But most of all she cherished her grandchildren. She had an infectious smile complimented by her beautiful dimples and always looked her absolute best. Maxine enjoyed a good game of Spades, bowling, listening to music and watching her favorite TV series. Ms. Maxine Noakes leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters and 3 sons, Trina L. Noakes, Sharonda Thornton, James (Crystal) Noakes, Jauron (Janelle) Noakes, Jarode (Natasha) Thornton, D’Paul Noakes and Jerome Boxely; step-daughter, Shamika Thornton, all of Flint; grandchildren, Trinisha, Iana, Khalia, Torri, Trinidi, Nyla, Darius, Shaniya, Kendall, Makayla, Alyssa, Jaylen, Semaj, Jauron Jr., Derrick, Juliana, Jayla, Jarode Jr., James and Jadah; great-grandchildren, Quordyn, Aubree and Chosyn; sister, Della Noakes; brothers, James (Margie) Noakes and Richard Smith; a plethora of nieces and nephews that she loved as her own; a host of cousins including special cousins, Debbie, Wayne, Kevin, Lonnie, Dawn, Genora and Adrian; 2 sisters-in-law, Vanessa Thornton and Felicia Thornton, both of Flint; 2 brothers-in-law, Randy Thornton of Grand Blanc, MI and Philip Thornton; a host other relatives and friends including special friends, Yolanda, LuJuana, Rose, Karen, Nina, James Thornton. Ms. Noakes was preceded in death by her mother, Eula P. Noakes; father, James Johnson; aunts, Izora Wilcox and Evelyn Scott; sisters, Victoria Ruffin and Janice Thornton; nephews, Telly Thornton and Randy Price; and Erma Jean Gatewood.
