Maudine Johnson

JOHNSON, Mother Maudine E., of Flint - Age 75, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 24, 2006 at her residence. The trumpet of the Lord sounded and the voice of the Lord said "Come, for your work on Earth has ended and your journey is over." Well done thou good and faithful servant: Thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the Lord (Matthew 25:21). Family hour 6PM-8PM Friday, April 28, 2006 at Greater Bethlehem Ministries (GBM), 2320 Canniff St. Funeral service will be held 11AM Saturday, April 29, 2006 at (GBM). Pastor Johnnie Brown III, officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Saturday. Mother Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Maudine was born November 18, 1930 in Rossville, TN where at the early age of 15 she met and married her husband of 60 years Robert A. Johnson (then 16 years old), on May 20, 1945. Their love story began in Memphis and continued where they eventually settled and raised their family in Flint, MI. Maudine was a very spiritual woman of God, who accepted Christ in her life at the early age of 12 and has been faithfully committed to the church since. Maudine was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always a devoted wife and mother in agreement with her husband they reared their children in the fear and admonition of God. They strongly believed in Proverbs 22:6, which says: "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it". She was also a surrogate mother to many. Her family and others affectionately called her "Madear". Maudine loved her family dearly and her love showed through her home cooking. Maudine and her husband Robert began their spiritual journey as members of Glad Tidings Church of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Elder Louis Tolbert, Holy Hill Church of God In Christ the late Elder Cleave Latchison and later became members of (GBM) under the leadership of Pastor Johnnie Brown III & Dr. Nathaniel Lewis, Sr., (Pastor Emeritus). Maudine leaves to cherish her memory: devoted husband, Robert A. Johnson; children, Robert (Ricky), Violet Smith, Carol (Albert) Townsend, Helen (Charles) Powe, James, Charles, Larry, Kenneth (Sandra), Cecelia (Kevin Sr.) Mize, Latonia and Dewayne Lance (adopted son); 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Maudine E. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Richard & Scotty Johnson; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers. The family would like to extend thanks to Pastor Johnnie Brown III & Mrs. Dhanetta Brown, Dr. Nathaniel Lewis, Sr., Mrs. Geraldine Lewis and the Entire (GBM) family, Eld. James Sanders, Mrs. Carolyn Sanders and the entire Pentecostal Temple family, Bishop Marvin C. Pryor and Mrs. Ruth Pryor and the entire Victorious Believers Ministries Church of God In Christ and a host of family and friends for their love and support.
