Mattie Little

LITTLE, Mrs. Mattie - Age 78, passed away Monday, July 25, 2005 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 10AM, with services under the auspices of the Order of the Eastern Stars starting at 10:15AM. Saturday, July 30, 2005 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Dr. A.J. Pointer officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Mrs. Little will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mrs. Mattie Jo Little was born on September 1, 1926, the daughter of Mr. Albert Woodward and Mrs. Ruby Kate Thomas. Mattie was a charter and faithful member of the Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, where she served on the Usher Board. She was also an active member in many fraternal houses which included, Past Worthy Matron of Royal Star #27, Past Grand Worthy Matron of Prince Hall Grand Chapter-Order of Eastern Stars, Past Illustrous Commandress of Oman Court Daughter of Isis #132, Past Most Ancient Matron of Ephraim Heroine of Jericho Court #7, Past Princess Captain of Tri-City Guild #7 and a member of Omega Court Lady Circle of Perfection Court #9. Mattie was a Lifetime member of Oman Court #132 and of Prince Hall Grand Chapter. Mrs. Mattie Jo Little leaves to cherish her memory: son, Harold R. (Cassandra) Hayden, Jr.; 2 grandchildren, Tiana and TaNeisha Hayden; sister, Virginia Earley; brother, Charlie (Pam) Woodward; special sister, Evelyn (Chester) Weathers, all of Flint; 2 sisters-in-law, Eleanor Woodward of Pine Bluff, AR and Mary-Lou Woodward of Flint; 7 nieces, Dianne, Charlene, Wendy, Kathy, Marquita, Althea and Regina; 6 nephews, Dennis, Craig, Eric, William, Richard and Alfred; 3 cousins, Solomon Jones of Flint, Mark Woodward of Los Angeles, CA and James (Dorothy Bell) Scott of Atlanta, GA; 23 great-nieces and nephews; a host of other cousins in Cincinnati, OH, other relatives and friends, including Catherine Catchings and the Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle family. Mrs. Mattie Jo Little was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, Albert Woodward and Ruby Kate Thomas; brother, Sam Woodward; sister, Bertha Woodward; and 2 great-nephews. The family wishes to thank devoted niece, Dianne Hamilton, the staff of Avalon Hospice and Hurley Medical Center for their kindness and loving care.
