WILLIAMS, Mrs. Mary - Age 67, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Seon Thompson, Eulogist, Supt. Brian D. Grundy, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd.. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10: 00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM on Monday. Mrs. Mary Helen Williams was born February 5, 1949 in Douglas, Georgia, the daughter of Mary Scott Lucas and Willie Stevenson. She was a resident of Flint, Michigan at the time of her passing. Mary was married to the late Leon Williams. She was employed at Mehr Tube as a Packer for 10 years until they closed in 2005. Mary was presently working as a Companion Aide at Willowbrook Manor until the onset of her illness. She loved listening to the Blues, playing Spades, dancing, but most of all she loved spending quality time with her family. Mary also loved her grandson, Lenell so much he was the apple of her eye. Mrs. Mary Helen Williams leaves to cherish her memory: grandson, Lenell Grundy; 3 great-grandchildren, LaZaria Sherman of Georgia, Jaiveon Grundy and Jrew Grundy of O’Fallon, IL; sister, Gloria Atkins of Flint; nieces, Antoinette, ShaQuanda Barfield, Bridget (Kenny), Angela Mizell, Katrese, Nykeeia (Pristell), and Poshiann Atkins, Quiana Adams, Jan Washington (Cedric) Kendall, TaZana Snowden, Lawana and Kawanna Gillespie, all of Flint, Belinda Sutton of Douglas, GA, Tasha (Mike) Thomas and Stephanie (Joe) Bailey of Arizona, and Jatasha Washington of Tennessee; nephews, Dwayne (Holly) Barfield of Grand Rapids, MI, Dexter (Katterius) Barfield, Derrick (Trina) Young, Deshan Atkins, all of Flint, Walter Mizell, Orlando Ingram, both of Douglas, GA, Keith Lucas of Arkansas, Jamontey (Tamela) Washington, Dusten Lucas, all of Detroit, MI; 3 sisters-in-law, Veronica Lucas, Belinda Lucas, both of Flint and Prince Ella Lucas of Detroit, MI; brother-in-law, Kenneth Atkins of Arizona; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Kemo Parks, DeQuavion Harris, Donquece Atkins, Barbara Rice, Dartha Dixon, Jean Pugh, Laura Whittaker and Antoinette Snowden. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Lucas; son, Andrew Grundy; parents, Mary Scott Lucas and Willie Stevenson; sisters, Joann Barfield and Annie Mizell; brothers, James and Willie Lucas; nephew, Dominique Fuller; fiancée, Joseph Bowman; brother-in-law, Cecil Barfield and Walter Mizell. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren-Flint, Willowbrook Manor, Slidell family, caregivers, Gloria Atkins and Aalaiah Atkins, and the Grundy family.
