SHINN, Ms. Mary Patricia - age 57, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center Rd., Burton, MI. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Ms. Shinn will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Ms. Mary Patricia Shinn was born March 26, 1957 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Robert Scott and Dora Porter. Mary was known to friends and family as “Pat” and graduated from Beecher High School "Class of 1975". She was married to Tommie Shinn for ten years and bore a beautiful daughter, Chloe from that union. “Pat” was employed at Hurley Medical Center where she gave 21 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Ebenezer Ministries. She enjoyed traveling, singing, cooking , shopping and living in the word of God. Pat loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. “Pat” will always be remembered and truly missed by the people whose lives she touched. On May 7, 2014 Mary P. Shinn went home to be with the Lord. Ms. Mary Patricia Shinn leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Chloe Scott; granddaughter, Aaliyah Scott; grandson Kemarji Reynolds; mother, Dora Porter; father, Robert Scott; step-father, Gordon Porter; grandmothers, Mary Thompson and Margaret Morris; 3 sisters, Renee (Charles) Thomas, Robin (Laroy) Williams and Dorica Brown, 3 brothers, O.C. (Michelle) Brown, Vernard Porter and Roland Porter; aunts, Gloria Garland, Geneva Scott and Annie Mae Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including best friend, Kathy Bolton. Mary was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Lou Scott; grandfathers, Jimmie Thompson and Frank Scott; step-father, O.C. Brown, Sr., uncle Robert Thompson, Willie Scott Sr., Paul Scott aunts, Sarah Davis and Geraldine Reed; sister, Karleaner Jones; nephew, O.C. Brown III; niece, Faith Williams. The family would like to express special thanks to Kathy Bolton and family, Carole McIntosh and family, Renee Thomas and family, Michelle Brown and Family, the Greater Holy Ground Ministries, Ebenezer Ministries, and Mclaren Hospice. Chloe Scott and her family would like to thank all relatives, friends and neighbors for the many prayers, kind expressions of sympathy, cards of condolence and donations they have received throughout Pat's journey.
