SCOTT Mrs. Mary L. - Age 66, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. Family hour 10:00AM Thursday, October 19, 2017 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 10:30 AM, Pastor Patrick W. Sanders Sr., officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Thursday. Mrs. Scott will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM Wednesday. Mrs. Mary Lena Scott was born August 12, 1951 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, the third oldest of 8 children born to Willie Killebrew and Corrine Moss, raised by Minnie L. Killebrew, and was a resident of Flint, Michigan for 40 years. Mary graduated in 1969 from Orange and Black Hopkinsville High School in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She retired from Mass Transportation Authority as an Administrative Assistant of Operations on November 6, 2015, after 37 years of dedicated service. Mary loved shopping, bowling, ushering, and enjoying her favorite TV shows with her sister Ruby. She also enjoyed being “Granny” to her grandchildren and loving on her girls. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mary was a long time member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Odis A. Floyd, whom she affectionately referred to as “Big Daddy”, where she served on Usher Board #2. She was currently a member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, serving on the Usher Board. Mrs. Mary Lena Scott leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Shalonda Scott (Eddie Fair) of Flint, Shelanna (J’Narias) Copeny of Fayetteville, NC, Sanita (Otis) Davis, Jr. and Sanedra Scott (Curtis Childs, Sr.) of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren, Sa’Niyah Scott, Emani’ and Emilee’ Copeny, Don’Jai Chandler, La’Shombrie Davis, Sanedra Crumbley and Curtis Childs, Jr.; great-grandchild, Dawson Chandler; god-grandchild, Iyanna Warren; 4 god-children, Kyle and Jarel (Bionca) Floyd, Deonta Stuart and Erica Warren; 3 sisters Ruby (Harry) Charity Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA, Debra Quarles of Hopkinsville, KY and Delma (Ronald) Latcher of Lexington, KY; 4 brothers, Willie (Regina) Killebrew, Lesel (Joanne) Killebrew, Ronnie (Terri) Moss, all of Hopkinsville, KY and Eddie (Janice) Warren of South Bend, IN; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins including special cousin, Lutisha “Peaches” Moss; 6 sisters-in-laws, Gwendolyn Scott, Sandra (Kenny) Freeman, Ernestine (Ronnie) Ligon, Phyllis Scott and Annesia Scott, all of South Bend, IN and Annette (Clarence) Hardiman of Santa Clara, CA; 2 brothers-in-law, Anthony (Elizabeth Ann) Scott, Sr. and Maurice (JoAnn) Scott, Sr., both of South Bend, IN; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, best friend, Sheery Houston, special friends, Lisa (Nate) Stuart, Letha (Jimmie) Turner, Faye Thomas, Patricia Hennie, Jeannie Mayberry, Carolyn (Wayne) Jones, Crystal (Michael) Rolle, Ms. Rita “Prayer Warrior” Washington and all other family and friends. Mary Scott was preceded in death by the love of her life, Deacon William H. Scott III; parents, Willie Killebrew and Corrine Moss; mother-in-love, Josephine “Mu” Scott; sister-in-law, Starlet Euphine Scott-Merriweather.
