DAVIS ROBERTS, Mrs. Mary - Age 85, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at The Oaks at Woodfield in Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Rabon Turner, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 North Belford Road, Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Davis Roberts will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Mrs. Mary Davis Roberts was born February 19, 1939 in Macon, Mississippi, the daughter of Samuel and Janie Mae Peterson. Mary was an exceptional Chef. She believed that food was for the soul. Mary displayed her culinary skills in numerous capacities. She was the Food Service Worker Supervisor at the Academy of Flint. Mary provided catering in the following school districts: Flint Community Schools, Buena Vista Schools in Saginaw Township, Beecher School District and Westwood Heights School District. She also decorated the schools with her numerous Christmas trees from her collection. Mary loved Christmas and wanted the children to have beautiful surroundings in their schools. She catered for UAW locals in the Flint area. Mary also provided her catering services for open houses, wedding receptions, wedding anniversaries and various other events in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Missouri. For several years, she catered for the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for their various events. Mary fed the Flint community consistently throughout the years. She also volunteered at the Shelter of Flint and the Brennan Center. Mary was always there to give a helping hand. She provided spaghetti dinners for the Hispanic community in Flint for their annual fundraiser. Mary was very active at her church. She was the Kitchen Leader at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 30+ years. Mary was also a member of the Choir and Outreach Committee. Not only was she a fabulous cook, but she also provided outfits for the Choir for their concerts and used her decorating skills as well. She was a Licensed Cosmetologist and a 4-H Volunteer. You could always count on Mary to come through for you. Mary was a giver. She would do anything to help others. Her laughter, wisdom and generosity spanned across this community and beyond. Mrs. Mary Davis Roberts leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters and 3 sons, Jesse E. (Cheri) Davis, Kelvin E. (Janice) Davis, all of Flint, Joe Davis III of Pinson, AL, Marsha V. (Vernell) Williams of Flint and Karen R. (Vernard) Green of Pembroke Pines, FL; grandchildren, Chaz J. (Julia) Davis of Washington, DC, Domonick (Asia) Davis of DC Metro Area, Keidra G. Davis of Millbrook, AL, Michael Pulley of Los Angeles, CA, Joe Davis IV of Washington, DC, Monet’ Davis of Lisbon, Portugal, Raynell Williams, James Lofton II, Mia A. Williams, all of Flint, Sydney R. Green (Nnamdi) Obukwelu of New Haven, CT, Rhandi M. (Raymond) Green Moran of New York, NY and Ashley N. (Matthew) Green Shaw of Deltona, FL; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Glenda J. Parker of Birmingham, AL; 4 brothers, Luther James Peterson Sr. of Kansas City, MO, Joseph (Mable) Peterson, Willie A. (Joann) Peterson and Jerome (Brenda) Peterson, all of Birmingham, AL; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Roberts; brothers, Booker T.
