PHIFER-OLMSTEAD, Ms. Mary Ann - Age 55, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008 at her residence. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, August 8, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Friday. Ms. Phifer-Olmstead will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2PM-8PM Thursday. Ms. Mary Ann Phifer-Olmstead was born March 12, 1953 in Woodville, Texas, the daughter of Ethel Mae and Jimmie Lee Phifer, Sr. Mary was a life-long resident of Flint. She graduated from Flint Northern High School “Class of 1971”. Mary was head chef of several local restaurants and loved cooking for her family and friends. She also had a special love for music, which she handed down to her 2 sons. Ms. Mary Ann Phifer-Olmstead leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons, Dir’Ron (Alexia) Phifer and JimmieL Y. (Erica Olson) Phifer; 5 grandchildren, D’Anna, Dir’Ron Jr., and De’Yonka Phifer, Terrance and Teaira Phifer-Olson; 2 sisters, Rhonda Renee Phifer and Verna Jones; 3 brothers, Bennie Joe (Evelyn Taylor), Clifford Earl, all of Flint, and Dennis DeWayne (Eletia) Phifer of Tennessee; 6 nieces, Quinette Hopkins, Keanna Stanley, Twylia Taylor, Quenturah and Latifah Brown, all of Flint and Keisha West of Tennessee; 4 nephews, Jaques Calhoun, Gerrard and R.J. West, all of Tennessee and Timothy Taylor of Flint; 2 aunts, Velma Phifer of Texas and Dorothy Phifer of St. Louis, MO; uncle, Harold Hudson of California; a host of cousins, co-workers, other relatives and dear friends including, Helen Phifer of Okolona, AK, Judy Harvey, Mrs. Cheryl Wicker and Mr. Johnny Walker, all of Flint. Ms. Phifer-Olmstead was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Mae and Jimmie Lee Phifer, Sr.; brother, Jimmie Lee Phifer, Jr.; grandparents, Willis and Annie Lou Bizzle, Junnie Phifer, and Bennie Stewart; special cousin, Cora Ann Phifer. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Wallace Hill III, The Phifer, Buckley, Bizzle, Tyson, Smith and Taylor families, Corrine, Cathy and Connie’s 1 & 2, NaTasha, LaTasha, LeAnna Love, Angie DePriest, Candice Keys and everyone else who gave.
