MILLER, Mrs. Mary Charleen - age 79, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 4418 Industrial Ave. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Latrelle W. Holmes, Sr. Host Pastor, Pastor Eddie Collins officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Miller will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Mary Charleen Miller, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Flint, Michigan on March 12, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Hope, Arkansas on November 12, 1934 to her devoted parents Levi and Ethel Mae (Rabb) Cook. Charleen grew up in a close-knit, loving, Christian home with her three brothers and her sister. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Conroe, Texas and attended Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1954 where she met and married Odis Miller of Germantown, Tennessee and they raised their family in Flint. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital in 1995 where she worked as a Surgical Instruments Technician. Our precious, elegant Mary Charleen Miller will be remembered for her dignity, her grace, her compassion for all people, her generous, peaceful presence, her love of nature and the outdoors. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8. Mother, all that is left to be said is: “Well done!” We will see you in Heaven. Charleen leaves in God’s care: 8 daughters, Ann Ragland, Valerie (Murdock) Jemerson, Joyce (Sherman) Williams, Debra (Eddie) Miller, Marilyn (James) Mitchell, Jacqueline Gillon, Carla (Samuel) Thomas, and Carrie Miller; Charleen also leaves in God’s loving hands 20 grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Dennis, Cedric, Angela, Tara, Tiffany, Brad, David, Mark, Marla, Odis, Austin, Aleighsha, Jason, Christopher, Jonathan, Deborah, Leahanna, and Rance; 32 great-grandchildren; stepson, Donald Ray Johnson; her adoring sister, Florene Burks; 2 special nieces, Michelle Williams and Melinda (Byron) Johnson; her special cousin, Earlene (Lonnie) Turner; her sister-in-law, Camille Cook; a host of other relatives and friends including and her loving friend, Shirley Brown. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Odis; and her brothers, Wade, Hubert, and Dale. The family would also like to recognize her dear friend, the late Mr. L.S. Nichols.
