BREWSTER, Ms. Mary L. - Age 78, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at Loving Joy Adult Care. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd.., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Dr. Marvin A Jennings Sr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Ms. Brewster will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Wednesday. Ms. Mary Lee Brewster was born November 16, 1938 in Monroe, Louisiana, the daughter of Wiley and Cordelia Wilson. She attended Catholic School in Monroe, LA, then attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA transferring to Grambling State University; graduating in 1965 with a degree in Elementary Education. Mary moved to Flint, Michigan and attended Eastern Michigan University and received a Master Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She began her teaching career in Monroe, LA obtaining employment with Ouachita Parrish School Board and at Boley & Riser Elementary Schools. After her relocating she became employed with the Flint Board of Education working at Neithercut Elementary School until her retirement in 2004 with 35 years of service. Mary was a longtime member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church since moving to Flint in 1969. She loved going to church, shopping and spending time with family. Mary was very giving. Ms. Mary L. Brewster leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Demetria Brewster of Houston, TX and Andrea (Douglas) Hill of Flint; son, Kevin Brewster of Atlanta, GA; 3 grandchildren, Shaquille Hill of Flint, Denae Curvey of Houston, TX and Dymond Hill of Flint; sister, Sarah D. Allen of Monroe, LA; 3 nieces, Angela Price, Chelsea Price and Briona Keys; 2 nephews, Walter L. (Bridgette) Allen Jr. and Fedell Price Jr., all of Houston, TX; special daughters, Charlotte Brown and Valerie Love; special son, Sam Hill; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Effie Bynum, Ida Johnson, Effie Whitmore, Rita Washington and Meredith Taylor. Ms. Brewster was preceded in death by her grandson, Kareem Hill; parents, Wiley and Cordelia Wilson; and brother, Wiley Wilson Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Threasa Cason and Loving Joy Assisted Living, Absolute Home Health and Hospice, Pastor Dr. Marvin A.
