Mrs. Mary Alice Amos

AMOS, Mrs. Mary Alice - Age 83, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at New Creation Church of God, 3472 Lennon Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. Robert Bizzle, officiating. Rev. Herbert Banks, Host Pastor. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Amos will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Mary Alice Amos was born August 28, 1935 in Sunflower, Mississippi, the daughter of Sammie & Mary Bizzle. Mary was a resident of Mississippi for 66 years. She moved to Flint in 2001. Mary was the eldest of 12 children. She came to Christ at the age of 10. Mary remained a standing member of Walker Chapel Baptist Church, Doddsville, MS where she served as a Mother of the church for several years but attended New Creation Church of God, Flint. Mary attended the historic high school, Delta Industrial Institute in Doddsville, MS. She was a beautiful mother not only to her seven children but raised one nephew. After losing her parents at a young age, she became a home care provider to her younger siblings. With her compassionate heart, she often opened her home to many others including her nieces and nephews during her younger and adult life. Mrs. Mary Alice Amos leaves to cherish her memory: 4 sons, George (Paulette) Amos Jr. of Ridgeland, MS, Creg (Marie) Amos of Columbus, GA, Elvin (Simona) Amos of Fayetteville, GA and Ronnie (Elane) Amos of Jacksonville, FL; 3 daughters, Bettye (Excell) Morris of Flint, MI, Faye Amos of Flint, MI and Elaine (Kervin Sr.) Covin of Columbus, GA; 18 grandchildren, Michael Amos, Myron Amos, Markus Amos, Zakiya Amos, Markecia Amos, Chloe Amos, Zoe Amos, Elaina Morris, Seleah Morris, Terrell Amos, Jeronica Amos, Elvin Amos, Jr., Matthew Amos, Keryn Covin, K. Deon, Covin II, Denee’ Lamar, Alexander Oliver, Earl Coleman, Reshaud Stewart; 2 sisters, Eula (Robert) Williams of Katy, TX and Jerry (Ellis) of Chicago, IL; 4 brothers, Jimmy (Darlene) Bizzle, Madison, WI, Henry (Freda) Bizzle of Flint, MI, Rueben (Ann) Bizzle of Hampton, VA and Robert (Erniece) Bizzle of Flushing, MI; a special nephew, Earvin Bizzle; two special god-grandsons, Joshua Eubanks and Caleb Sutton; host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Amos was preceded in death by her husband, George Albert Amos Sr.; parents, Sammie and Mary Bizzle; step-mom, Ola Mae Bizzle; sisters, Betty Bizzle, Eunice Crockett and Catherine Wilson; brothers, Sammie Bizzle, Earvin Bizzle and Ollen Bizzle. The family would like to express special thanks to members of the Senior Companion Program, Marion Collins and Esther Dupens and special friends Sonya Whitaker and Ann Graves. All who helped in providing 24-hr. care for Mary Amos in her home over the past seven years.
