Martha Lane

LANE, Mrs. Martha - Age 54, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 115 Welch Blvd. with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Supt Quintin Marshall officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Tuesday. Mrs. Lane will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mrs. Martha Raye Lane was born July 11, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Bishop Roosevelt and Earslene Sims. Martha was a life long resident of Flint and graduated from Flint Central High School. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age, being baptized by her father, Bishop Sims at the Holy Key Church of All Faith. Martha thoroughly enjoyed singing gospel music and was a pioneer member of many groups, such as the Gospel Keys, Echo’s of Joy and Voices of Deliverance. Martha was known for being the Mistress of Ceremony “MC” and an avid bible reader. She served faithfully and diligently at her church, New Life Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C.. Martha enjoyed cooking, shopping, traveling and most of all, spending time with her family. Mrs. Martha R. Lane leaves to rejoice in her memory, devoted husband, Elton Lane, Sr.; 3 children, Paula Mychelle Sims, Elton Lane, Jr. and Darius Lane; grandson, Erik “BoBo” Sims; 2 sisters, Pastor Rosie Richardson and Pauline Sims; brother, Nathaniel Sims; 3 sisters-in-law, Queen (Supt. Quintin) Marshall, Gwen Marshall and Pamela Lane; 2 brothers-in-law, Terrance (Linda) Lane and Kevin (Thea) Lane; special “Daughters of the Heart”, Ariel Fuller, Shawnda Gaines and A. Renee Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Linda Thomas and Crystal Frazier. Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her parents, Bishop Roosevelt and Earslene Sims and brother, Roosevelt Sims, Jr. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Purvis Givens, Francine Williams, Josephine Clark, Rahsheem Covington, Dr. Raffee, Dr. Hashish, Dr. Black, Fresenius Center, the Mt. Tabor and House of Prayer churches, and her church family, New Life Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C.
