EDWARDS, Mr. Marquise - Age 27, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Association G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Thursday. There will be no public viewing. Mr. Marquise “Quise” Joseph Edwards was born August 6, 1996 in Flint Michigan, the son of Alma Sykes and Joseph Edwards. He was a lifelong resident of Flint Michigan. He attended and graduated from Southwestern Classical Academy in 2014. He also was a member of the football team as their Defensive Guard. Shortly after graduating high school, he attended Mott College and was part of the Auto Mechanic Program. Marquise was an employee at AutoZone for three years. He worked at Flint Auto Auction for three years. Then he worked as a Truck Driver for five years. He was proud to be a Heavy Load Truck Driver. His last place of employment was ET Enterprise Trucking, LLC. Marquise enjoyed driving and traveling. He loved riding in his truck and riding his motorcycle. He loved working on cars and anything he could get his hands on. He loved Muscle Cars and Old School Cars. His pride and joy was, his 1996 Impala SS which was kindly known as the “SS Yacht.” He loved music and watching anime. He was definitely a foodie. Marquise loved cooking and baking. His loved sugar cookies and brownies. He loved making his Grit Bowl, making barbeque, and cooking his famous Chicken Alfredo dish. Anyone who really knew him knew he was a man that loved taking care of himself. He loved smelling good and taking his time in the bathroom doing his skincare routine. He loved working out with his friends and spending time with them. He was an excellent Godfather and loved taking care of Winter his godchild. Marquise loved cracking jokes and spending time with his family. He was someone who knew how to make people laugh and had a smile on his face. Mr. Marquise “Quise” Joseph Edwards leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Alma Sykes; father, Joseph Edwards; sister, Jasmine Edwards, all of Flint; god-daughter, Winter Skyy Terry of Auburn Hills, MI; cousins, Anna Sykes, Brice Blake, Glenn Sykes, Sylvester Sykes, CJ Hooker, Jacob Norton, and Zakkiyah Hooker; aunts, Annetta Sykes, Valerie Edwards, Angeletta Hooker; uncles, Dennis Sykes, Terrell Sykes, and Charles Edwards; grandmother, Ethel Edwards, all of Flint; god-parents James and Betty Cummings of Grand Blanc, MI; god- sister, Abby Lyles; god-brother, Dre’Shoun Burt; mentor Nathaniel Williams Sr.; best friends Nathaniel Williams Jr., Densell Handley, and Anthony Miller, all of Flint, Michigan. He has a host other relatives and friends including special friend, Rayonna Massey of Chandler, Arizona. Marquise was preceded in death by his grandmother, Annie Laura Sykes; grandfathers, Ernest Lee Sykes Sr. and Horace Ray Edwards; step-grandfather, JC “Jake” Carroll; great-aunt, Ruth Scott; aunts, Patricia Norton and Dorothy Sykes; uncles, Ernest Lee Sykes Jr. and Calvin Edwards. The family would like to express special thanks to all of his friends that loved him.
