Mrs. Marla Janene Briscoe

BRISCOE, Mrs. Marla Janene - Age 73, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, September 22, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home,e, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing a 2:00 PM. Pastor Timothy Hatter, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 1:30 PM Friday. Mrs. Briscoe will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Public viewing will be during family hour only. Mrs. Marla Janene (Lewis) Briscoe was born March 1, 1950 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of John and Anna Lewis. Marla was a resident of Flint her entire life. She had various employment opportunities that included, auxiliary duties at Roy Wilkins Elementary School, engaging and assisting with the nutritional needs of all students and at Kith Haven Nursing Facility, assisting with all needs of the elderly. Marla was always caring of others wellbeing. She found her expertise in family and patient care. Not settling, she soon dedicated a majority of her time and life in taking meticulous care of both her parents, John Henry and Anna Ailene Lewis. During earlier times of her life, her hobbies included playing cards, Dominos, bowling and Pokeno. She enjoyed holidays and gatherings with families and friends. Marla was naturally a great cook and baked to perfection. Mrs. Marla Janene Briscoe leaves to cherish her memory: 3 sons, D’Chan Lewis, Anthony Briscoe and Alan Briscoe, all of Flint; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins including special nieces, Kimberly Thompson and Candace Yancy, both of Flint; special cousins, Cheryl Jones of Mt. Morris, MI and Roxann Hill of Grand Blanc, MI; special friend, Gianna Straham and lifelong special friend, Sylvia Nelson, both of Flint. Mrs. Briscoe was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Anna Ailene Lewis; sisters, Eyvonne Lewis-Cox and Celia Lewis-Anderson. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, phone calls, prayers, flowers and words of comfort during our mother’s illness. A special thanks to Hurley Medical Center staff, nurses, physicians and Pastor Timothy Hatter for his services.
