CLAIBORNE, Mr. Markanthony J. - Age 40, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, in Seattle,Washington. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, August 11, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Friday. Mr. Claiborne will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Markanthony J. Claiborne was born March 19, 1983 in Houston, Texas, the son of Alma Claiborne and Anthony Armstrong. Markanthony was a resident of Flint, Michigan. He was raised up in the Baptist church and later was learning about Jehovah God. Markanthony graduated from Flint Central High School. He was a welder and construction worker, where he learned these traits from the military. Markanthony loved his family and friends. He enjoyed bowling, basketball, food and playing Dominos. Markanthony loved to make people smile and was so thoughtful, loving and respectful. Mr. Markanthony J. Claiborne leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Alma (Robert) Knight of Flint; father, Anthony Armstrong of Houston, TX; 2 daughters and 2 sons, Markanthony Claiborne Jr. of Flint, Makiya Claiborne of Oklahoma City, OK, Zy’aire Claiborne of South Carolina and Caylana Claiborne of Tacoma, WA; 4 step-children, Cirna, Kira, Shiane and Curtis Cepeada, all of Tacoma, WA; grandchild, Avion Claiborne; grandparents, James McGregory of St. Louis, MO, Virginia Hart and Estelle Williams, both of Houston, TX; 2 sisters, Tawana Claiborne and Roshawnda (Dewayne) Collins, all of Flint; 6 brothers, Sanford Claiborne, Brandon Claiborne, Andre Dye, all of Flint, Leroy Cole, Tony Armstrong and Christopher Armstrong, all of Houston, TX; 2 aunts, Sophia Callaway and Eugenia (Maurice) Dantzler; 4 uncles, Landry Claiborne, Lenny Claiborne, Lorenzo Claiborne and Lester Claiborne; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Robin Banks, Patrice Jones, Sabrina Cashmere, Harry Carlwise, Dominick Dellumo, Ben & Nicole Garcia, Dreko Callaway, Jimmy & Jacob Johnson, Landry & Isaiah Claiborne, Shavon McPherson, Monica McBride & Jermaine, Chevette, Wendy Claiborne and Lakisha Mitchell. Mr. Markanthony Claiborne was preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Claiborne; grandfathers, Zebedee Anderson and James McGregory; great-grandmother, Quillamae Elliot; uncle, Landry Claiborne; aunt, Sophia Callaway; cousins, Equilla Claiborne and Antwan Cox.
