HOPKINS, Ms. Marion "Weasel" - Age 70, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022, at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, February 26, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Pastor Tanner Jones, officiating. Friends and family will assemble at the chapel 1:30 PM Saturday, February 26, 2022. Ms. Hopkins will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2022.To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. On Friday, February 11, 2022, at Hurley Medical Center. Marion “Weasel” Hopkins made her peaceful transition from this world into eternity to be with her Heavenly Father. Weasel, as she was fondly known, was born on October 9, 1951 in Flint, Michigan to parents, the late Eddie Miller Sr. and Mattie M. Miller. The second of four children, Marion, accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, where she served on the Nurse’s Guild for several years. She attended Flint Community Schools, graduating from Flint Northern High School, class of 1969. Marion earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Jordan College, and an Associate Degree in Business Health Services Management, from Mott Community College. She was employed at the Genesee County Friend of the Court for 19 years, as a Senior Program Clerk. Marion was a fun and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend of many. She was extremely organized and kept copious lists to ensure her obligations were met. She also, enjoyed dressing up for Halloween, often scaring children as they came to her front door. She was an avid roller skater and very smooth on her wheels. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, bartending, attending jazz festivals, R&B concerts, and loved spending time with her family and friends, at family gatherings. Marion Hopkins leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted son, Darnell (Ever) Miller of Ypsilanti, MI; 3 grandsons, Darnell K. Miller of Cincinnati, OH, Landon E. Miller of Dallas, TX and Myles C. Miller of Toledo, OH; She also leaves to cherish her memories: sister and devoted caregiver, Caroline Miller, Margret Jones, both of Flint; brother, Michael (Tonya) Miller of Poland OH; nephew, Tansy (Stephanie) Miller of Newnan GA; nieces, Lashonia Miller of Flint, and Monique Thomas of Arizona; great-niece, Monique Miller; great-nephew, Dominque Miller; aunt, Rosie L Brooks of Southfield, MI; sister-in-love, Sharon Riley of Flint; special cousins, Jackie Luckett and Chucky Young; special friend, Alma Phillips; god-daughter, Kendra Peters, all of Flint; former spouse, Dewayne Hopkins of Chicago IL, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Miller Sr. and Mattie Miller; grandparents; Sam Miller & Helen Miller; brother, Eddie Miller Jr.; grandparents; Sam Miller & Helen Miller; grandmother, Lemmie Hearndon; grandfather, Eli Weathersby; father of son, Charles “Poppy” Collins Jr.; uncle, Hezekiah Doris Hearndon; niece, Lisa Carr; nephew, Braxton Miller; and great-niece, LaChantae Carr.
