Mrs. Marion Collins

COLLINS, Mrs. Marion - Age 84, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, February 24, 2025, at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Rabon Turner, officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Monday. Mrs. Collins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday with family present from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM to receive friends. Marion Collins was born on November 8, 1940, in Fayetteville, Tennessee. The daughter of the late Robert Wilson and late Louise Marks Wilson. Marion Collins was raised in Nashville, Tennessee. Marion was the last living child of Robert and Louise Wilson. She attended Lincoln and Davidson County schools and Camron High School, where she graduated in 1960. Marion was a resident of Flint, Michigan since 1961. She was employed with Hurley Medical Center and Mott Adult High School through Flint Board of Education where she retired in 1994. She was a Chairperson for the City of Flint’s election polls for many years, and a volunteer with Mid-Michigan Senior Companion Program. She attended Mason School of Business and Mott Community College where she received an Associates of Arts Degree. Marion accepted Christ at an early age, she was a member of Foss Avenue Baptist Church from 1961 until 1981. Marion moved from the northside of Flint to the Southside of Flint. Grace Emmanual Baptist Church was in the back of her home, her daughter talked her into going for a visit and she joined Grace Emmanuel in 1981. She was part of the interior decorating committee and housekeeping committee as well. Marion was a very caring and loving person; she loved her family immensely. She was a sharp dresser and a fantastic cook. She was a sports fan on holidays Marion was watching football with the men on holidays; she watched golf, tennis, football, basketball, baseball, boxing, swimming, soccer, and hockey. However, football was her favorite and her all-time favorite team was the Miami Dolphins. She enjoyed watching television, she especially loved to watch generation gap game show with her two great-grandson’s Corey and Mari Miller. Marion enjoyed going to the casino as well. Marion Collins leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Pamela Miller; son, Carlos Collins; son-in law, James Miller, all of Flint, MI; god-daughters, Hattie Donald, Bobbie Rogers Chapman, Dorothy Chapman, Helen Chapman, Deborah (Fred) Marshall, Bertha Williams, and Margaret Campbell, all of Flint; grandchildren, Corey Miller, Ashley Miller, Demetrius Collins, Emily Jones, Leilani Jones, Andrea Donald, Antwane Donald, Terelle Nelson, Javion Miller, Anita (Greg) Terry, Marlon (Stesnie) Ridley, Christopher Ridley, and Sharia Legette; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Banks and Mae Chapman, both of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews including special niece, Jacqualine Gass; a host of cousins including special cousin, Mary Elden; sisters-in-law, Brenda Gordon, both of Flint and Branda Collins of Akron, OH; brother-in law, Denard (Mary) Collins of Grand Blanc, MI; a host of relatives including special relatives, Wallette Morse-Williams, Gary Morse, Dora (Lester) Robinson, Debbie Milling, Jayne Willingham, Denola Miller, Gail Elston, Shantel (Leslie) McWilliams, Sherri Miller, Dematrice Miller, and Troy Muhammad; a host of friends including special friends, Joanne Jones, Tonda Henderson, and the Haywood family. Marion was preceded in death by her former husband and close friend, Lee Edward Collins; parents, Robert and Louise Wilson; siblings, Clementine Johnson, Robert McCoy, Norman Wilson, Marvin Wilson, Annie Bill Cole, Patti Congo, Everlyn Alsup, and Sarah Smartt; mother and father-in-law, Frances Collins and Brooks Sr.; sisters-in law, Frances Morse, Dasiy Davis, Dorothy Willis, and Rosa B Johnson; brothers in-law, Brooks Collins Jr., Wallace Morse, James Peoples, Leroy Peoples, and Leroy Smartt; special friends, Louella Junior, Adrienne Oliver, and Bobbie Howard. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Dr. Rabon L. Turner, her Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church family, Dr. Katneni Jitendra, Hurley Medical Center ER and 5 West Progressive Care Unit, her beautician of about 25 years, Shonda (Antwan) Wright and her family.
