Mrs. Marilyn Hill

HILL, Mrs. Marilyn - Age 74, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her residence. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 4418 Industrial St. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Latrell Holmes, Sr. officiating. Rev. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:30 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Hill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Marilyn Louise (Williams) Hill was born June 4, 1939 in Chidester, Arkansas to the late David and Charlotte Williams. Marilyn graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class of 1958, and then went to pursue her love for cosmetology at Star Beauty School. She loved to brainstorm new styles and participated in many style shows. On June 2, 1960 Marilyn married Lofton W. Hill and they shared 35 years together until his death. To their union 3 children were born. Marilyn worked at Boyd’s Style-O-Rama and later worked in the family beauty salon in her parent’s basement. Marilyn later became employed at General Motors Truck & Bus, where she was employed for 25 years. Aside from working and providing for her family, Marilyn loved to cook, decorate, play cards, fish and had an incredible passion for fashion and working in the yard. She was known to have the most gorgeous flowers in her neighborhood. She insisted that everything be in perfect condition and that’s how she modeled herself. Under God’s charge Marilyn leaves: daughters, Zendelyn (James ) Beasley of Flint, MI, Shenita Hill of Ypsilanti, MI, Gemika Hill of Houston, TX; sons, Stevie (Vada) Hill of Mt. Morris, MI, Richard Hill and Isaac Hill of Flint; god-daughters, Joyce (Sherman) Williams, Jacqueline (John) Thomas of Flint, MI; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grand-children; sisters, Emylyn Tomblin, Evelyn (Henry) Williams and Katherine Hill, all of Flint; brother, Charles (Sheila) Williams of Alameda, CA; honorary sisters, Toni Miles, Mary Singleton, Shirley Britt, Edna Lee of Flint, MI and Lillie Mae Christopher of Oakland, CA; honorary brother, Walter (Pearl) King of Long Beach, CA; sisters-in-law, Samela Neely and Andrea Randle of Flint, MI; brother-in-law, Selather Hill of Flint, MI and Dr. Cullian Hill of Detroit, MI. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband Lofton W. Hill; parents, David and Charlotte Williams; identical twin sister, Carolyn Hawkins; and brothers, Frank Williams, Fred H. Williams and David E. Williams. A special thanks to friends and family who came out to assist during the home care of Mrs. Hill. Special thanks to son in-law, James Beasley who worked diligent to help care for his mother-in-law and fishing partner. The family extends considerable gratitude to the staff and doctors of Genesys and McLaren ICU, McLaren Hospice and her Nurses Aids. The family thanks everyone for the fervent prayers and heartfelt generosity and support, Pastor Latrelle Holmes Sr., Veta Holmes, and the Greater Galilee Church Family.
