GOODMAN, Mother Marilyn Vernell - Age 83, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, December 30, 2021 at St. Luke Baptist Church, 821 E. Court St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Thursday. Mother Goodman will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM Wednesday. Mother Marilyn Vernell Goodman was born June 2, 1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana, the daughter of Bishop Paul Ealy and Ella D. Campbell. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, LA. Marilyn married Ben J. Goodman on August 12, 1954 in Flint, Michigan and from this union 6 children were born. She was employed by Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors Corporation for 30 years retiring in 1998. Marilyn enjoyed spending time dining and fellowshipping with her family, Crossword Puzzles and crocheting. She was a gorgeous, classy and kind woman. A true virtuous woman of God who will be missed by all who knew her. Marilyn was a Charter Member and Mother of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Mother Marilyn Vernell Goodman leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters and 3 sons, Rita Goodman Caldwell, Sharon (Stanley Evans) Goodman, Benjamin Goodman, Tammy (Maurice) Denson, Alonzo (Tyra Richards) Goodman and Orlandos (Linda) Goodman; 2 adopted daughters, Lauren Mickle and Cynthia Burton; grandchildren, Shannon McHenry, Princess Coleman, Sparkle Goodman, Orlandos Goodman II, Krystal Owens, Alonzo Goodman Jr., Maurice Denson Jr., Tyrice Denson, E’reginal Richards, A’lonna Richards, Bobby Coleman Jr., Edward Evans III, Diamond Evans, Keyshana Haney; great-grandchildren, Bria Richardson, Andre’naya Abron, Aalliyah Evans, Amaria Evans, Christian Goodman, Olivia Goodman and Kristina Owens; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Willie Mae Eddington of Detroit, MI, Carolyn Lewis of Flint, neighbor, Carolyn Jackson and special cousin, Mignon Goings. Mother Goodman was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Goodman Sr. (06/28/83); parents, Bishop Paul Ealy and Ella D. Campbell; grandparents, Gus and Mary Campbell; aunts, Frances Wesley and Gussie Preston.
