Mrs. Marie Blacknall

BLACKNALL, Mrs. Marie - Age 92, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Kenneth Stewart, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Blacknall will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Monday. Mrs. Marie Bobbie Mitchell was born in Millington, Tennessee on November 11, 1927. Marie liked to say her birthday was a national holiday. Her parents were Sam Henry Mitchell and Georgia Mayo Mitchell. Marie graduated from Manassas High School in Memphis, TN and attended Genesee Community Junior College in Flint, Michigan. Marie met and married Primos Alexander Blacknall in Memphis and had 8 children, Louis Blacknall of Flint, June Collins of Takoma Park, MD, Lillian Blacknall, Pastor Marie Blacknall, both of Flint, Debra Esters (deceased), Carolyn Lewis of Marietta, GA, Robert Blacknall of Tucson, AZ and Gregory Blacknall of Flint. Marie was a member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church since 1984, as well as a Faithful Usher, Member of the Usher Board, Children's Sunday School Teacher, Advisor to the Junior Usher Board and Motivational Speaker. She retired from Hurley Medical Center as a Surgical Anesthetist Technician in 1989. Marie was a devout Christian, true to herself and true to God. Mrs. Marie Bobbie Mitchell leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters and 3 sons, June Collins of Takoma Park, MD, Nasir Muhammad, Gregory Blacknall, both of Flint, Carolyn Lewis of Marietta, GA, Robert Blacknall of Tucson, AZ, Lillian Blacknall and Marie Blacknall of Flint; 9 granddaughters and 15 grandsons, Sherri Collins, Chriss Collins, both of Takoma Park, MD, James Collins of Hancock, MI, Nicolē Coore of Pittsburgh, PA, Jeffrey Collins of Hancock, MI, Tewania Blacknall, Tory Lewis, Tiffany Lewis, Tyrese Lewis, all of Marietta, GA, Damarcus Esters (deceased), Dedria Esters of Washington, DC, Robert Thompson, Jermaine Thompson, Louis Blacknall, all of Flint, Verrodus Blacknall of Little Rock, AR, Kristina Blackwell of Jackson, MS, Victor Blacknall (deceased), William Blacknall of Hancock, MI, Rodney Blacknall of Pontiac, MI, Cleavon Blacknall, Joe Louis Blacknall of Flint, Tory Stewart of Houston, TX and Laquandria Stewart of Phoenix, AZ; 45 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mitchell was also preceded in death by her parents, Sam Henry Mitchell and Georgia Mayo Mitchell; 5 siblings, 4 sisters, Christine Mallett, Jaunita Mitchell, Myra Holton and Ernestine Meyers; brother, Lewis C. Mitchell.
