Mr. Marhk Rick Carter

CARTER, Mr. Marhk Rick - Age 60, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, April 15, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Interment Monday,April 17, 2017 at Lakeview Cemetery, 6150 White Lake Rd., Clarkston, MI 48346. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday. Mr. Carter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mr. Marhk Ricky Carter was born Ricardo Journey on July 16, 1956 in Wayne County, Michigan. In 1963 he was adopted by Alfred Lee Cater of Pennsylvania and Ruth J. Gridon of Louisiana, who preceded him in death. Marhk attended Clarkston Public Schools where he graduated from Clarkston High School, there Marhk was a very active student, but he was known best for his athleticism, witty personality and what seemed to be a permanent smile amongst classmates and teachers alike, this remained a staple throughout his life. After graduating high school Marhk went on to become an EMT, where he spent many long days and night aiding in saving lives during various emergencies. As an EMT, Marhk was able to tap into his known passion in helping other which he found most satisfying. Years later Marhk went on to pursue a career in the automotive industry at General Motors. During his time as an automotive worker, he began to develop what would be lifetime relationships with those who shared his need for speed and motorcycle passions. Marhk was known to be the one never afraid to meet a challenge when it came to riding. All he needed was a bike and an open road. Marhk later began racing his motorcycle along with his group of friends. It was during this time where Marhk suffered a motorcycle accident which ended his automotive career, but not his passion for Motorcycles and riding. Due to Marhk developing interests in photograph, he decided to enroll into photography school where he dived in head first into the world of photography. After that there, wasn’t an event or time where Marhk didn’t have a camera in his hand capturing special moments in time not only in his own life but the lives of those around him. Marhk was known for his love of motorcycles, photography, sports, helping people, but most of all, his love for his children. Though Marhk was adopted, he was blessed to have 8 lifetime friend whom he call brothers, Greg, Paul, Jimmy, Curt, Alonzo, Wade, Peety and Dave. Through these brothers added a slew of nieces and nephews all loved by Uncle Rick. Marhk will continue to be missed by the many friends made and by the lives he touched throughout his journey in this life. Marhk leaves to cherish his memory two loving daughters, Monica L. Smith of Pontiac, Michigan and Nakitha M. Clark of Pontiac, MI; one granddaughter, 4yr old Kadence Smith, one sister, Marnyce McKell of San Diego, CA, one brother David Carter of New York City, NY who preceded him in death, 2 God-sons, Paul Lozier Jr. and Robert both of Flint, Michigan, one god-daughter, Tiffany Lozier of Flint, Michigan; a host of other relative and friends.
