POLLARD, Mrs. Margaret Marie (Hatter) - Age 76, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, March 29, 2019 at St. George Bethel C.O.G.I.C., 3801 M.L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, 9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mrs. Pollard will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday. Missionary Margaret Marie Pollard, age 76 went home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, Michigan, with family and friends at bedside. Mrs. Pollard was born on April 29, 1942 in Livingston, Alabama. She was the fifth of eleven children born to Frank “Sheshank” and Isabella Hatter. The family soon moved to Flint, Michigan in 1946 when she was three years old, with the inspiration for a better life. Margaret remained a resident of Genesee County until her demise. She attended the Flint Community School system including Crapo Elementary, Whittier Junior High and Central High School. In her first marriage to Theodric Stinson, they raised five children: Elizabeth, Sterling, Carolyn, Anthony, and Valjean Stinson. Margaret was a very soft spoken and private woman. However, she was a woman of prestige. Everything and everyone around her, flourished with her personality. Margaret’s inspiration of beauty, bling and genuine class, radiated from her. She strove towards having the finer things in life, whether it was home décor, furniture, jewelry, clothing, etc. She had a distinct style and loved to decorate her home. Her favorite past time was shopping and would often “shop ‘til she dropped”. She had a beautiful poise and could light up a room with her smile. Margaret gave her life to the Lord in 1970 under the leadership of the Bishop Arthur George Burrell and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and that with fire. She was a faithful member of St. George Beth El Church of God in Christ bringing many souls to Christ. Her inspiration, motivation and love for God and His people prompted her to open her home as a place of refuge for a family of five. She was an ardent worker and she served in various capacities in the church, serving first on the Usher Board, moving up to teaching the adult women’s Sunday school. After receiving her Missionary License, Margaret was designated as a Progressive District’s Sunday School Superintendent and was later appointed as “Church Mother”. She became employed by General Motors in 1975, working in many different divisions of the company. She transferred to Parts & Service in Swartz Creek, Michigan and eventually retired in 1985. Prior to working at General Motors, she worked many jobs including working at the Genesee Towers, exclusive club/ restaurant, Yankees Department Store, and Planned Parenthood, just to name a few. Margaret later met and married Alvin Pollard and they were married for 33 years. Margaret loved to travel across the United States, including Canada, California, Ohio, New York, Washington DC, Memphis, Tennessee, and Florida to name a few. She also enjoyed spending lots of time with family, especially her grandchildren. She loved listening to traditional old school gospel music and taking long quiet highway drives. She was a very business minded person, owning her own online business called “Margaret’s Gifts & Jewelry”. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, Mr. Alvin Pollard Sr. husband; Children: Elizabeth (Leroy) Parks, Daughter-in-law Evelyn Hatter, Anthony (Belkis) Stinson of Homestead, FL., Valjean (Alvin) Jackson, and stepchildren Alvin (Margaret) Pollard Jr., Carl Pollard, Rita Burton, and Sherrie (Spencer)Tyler all of Flint, MI., Siblings: brothrs: James and Henry Hatter of Clio, MI; Lorenzo Carl (Mattie), Joseph (Angela), Raymond (Courtney), Glenn (Mae), Brother-n-law J. D. Stewart and brother -n-law James Ragston, all of MI., Sister: Pastor Barbara Perkins, Sister-n-law Gerlene Hasan of Las Vegas, Nv. Grandchildren; Shalesa (Harry) Truman, Antwuan (Colleen), Ayesha and Antonio Parks, Rickeysha Brown, Avante, Alphonso, and Sterling Hatter, kamari Brooks, Travone, travonte, Anthony, Christopher and Jeremy Stinson. Greatgrand children; Summer, Kyeliyah, and Brooke Williams, Raven Truman, and Ariannacarol. Her extended family by marriage adds an additional 34 grandchildren, 15 great grands and 6 great great-great children. She was proceded in death by her parents: Frank and Isabella Hatter; siblings Mary Frances Ragston, Cornelia Isabella Stewart, and Jameel Hasan. Sister-n-law (Big ) Barbara Jean Hatter, and Rose Wimms. Children; Alphonso Sterling Hatter and Carolyn Brown. And a host of Nieces and nephews.
