Mr. Mardell Watson

WATSON, Mr. Mardell - Age 37, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at his residence. Family hour 12:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave., with Memorial service commencing at 12:30 PM., Minister Ray Jones, officiating, Rev. Dr. Herbert Miller II, Host Pastor. Family and friends will assemble at the Church 12:00 PM on Saturday. Mr. Watson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. There will be no public viewing. Mardell DeShawn “Shug” Watson was born February 5, 1979 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Delories A. Watson and Willie Brown. He was affiliated with Refuge Temple Church of Flint and was a charter member of Albert Strickland and Cho’zen Community Gospel Choir. Mardell was a graduate of Beecher High School, “Class of 96” and went on to obtain his Associate Degree in Business at Baker College. He recently became a Notary Public and was excited about starting a new business venture. “Shug” was a fun loving person that enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir, shopping traveling, cooking and was a sharp dresser. He loved the Lord, always prayed and talked to Him. Mardell was very passionate and loved to help everyone, especially his friends. Watson of Flint; father, Willie Brown of Arizona; grandmother, Pearlie Winford; 2 brothers, Ronell “Boo” Watson and Rodney Watson; 2 nieces, Brielle Watson and A’Hnesti Martin Watson; 2 nephews, Braylen Watson and Logan Watson; special uncle, Darnell Watson, all of Flint; god-children, Cheyanne Willis of Arlington, TX, Jazmine Luckado of Flint and Ashley Brown of Davison, MI; a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Albert Strickland and family of Flint, Shawn Gray of Arlington, TX, Angela Vaughn of Mt. Morris, MI, Pastor LeQuin R. Williams Sr. of Flint, Nicole Scruggs of Detroit, MI, Paula Luckado of Flint, Tracie Vaughn of Mt. Morris, MI, Dorothy “Sleepy” Beavers, Donquia Beavers, David Isom, Devin Beavers, Takeeshe Carr, all of Flint and special sister, Ebony Harden of Flint. Mardell was preceded in death by his grandmother, Williephine Brown; and friend, LaToi Jones. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev.
