BROWN, Mr. Marcus Jamarr - Age 48, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, February 17, 2024, from Bethel United Methodist Church, 1309 N. Ballenger Hwy., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Min. Elmore Torbert, Eulogist., Pastor Naylo Hopkins, Host Pastor. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Brown will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Marcus Jamarr Brown was born on June 13th, 1975 in Flint, Michigan, the first son of Marcus Lafayette Brown and Katie Jean (Marthrel) Brown. He graduated from Flint Beecher High School, “Class of 1993.” After relocating to Shreveport, Louisiana, he gained employment and a Shreveport Family with Intier Automotive. Marcus married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Sharee Monique Brown on June 30, 2008. To this union was born, Charli Bella Lorraine Brown, who was the light of his life. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with honors. Marcus was employed at Pelle State Oil Company in Shreveport, LA. After Marc relocated back to Michigan, he began working as a Senior Finance Clerk at Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) and moved up to Genesee County Fiscal Service as a Financial Analyst, where he was employed until the time of his passing. His work family loved him dearly and we are grateful for them. Marcus had great energy and a love for life and people. He felt he could learn something from everyone he met, and everyone was important and worth the time. Marcus loved barbecuing, calling himself “BBQ Brown, I’m back baby” like he ever left! He also loved the ocean, traveling and spending time with his family. Marcus will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. P.S. he should’ve been named “Marcus Detroit Lions Jamarr Brown”. “Roaring All My Life!!! We Love You Baby! Brown of Shreveport, LA; 3 aunts, Frances Hughes of St. Louis, MO, Kathleen (Titus) Jones of Detroit, MI and Diane (J.J.) Crawford; 3 uncles, Robert (Linda) Marthrel of Missouri City, TX, Walter James of Capital Heights, MD and William Brown; great-aunt, Mildred (Larry) Higgins; mother-in-law, Wanda Lyons; 4 sisters-in-law, LaTonya (Freddie) Darrough, Juanice (Pastor Mark) Parker of Lansing, MI, Genale Richard and Reneta Richard; a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friend, Antione “Shorty” Jackson.
