ADAMS, Mr. Marcus Dwight - Age 55, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Pastor Steve Hawkins, Officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Bedford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Adams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1- 8p.m. Friday. Mr. Marcus Dwight Adams was born November 11, 1955 in Flint, MI, the son of Eddie, Jr. and Lelia (Waller) Adams, the third oldest of four children. Marcus was a graduate of Flint Southwestern High School, “Class of 1973.” After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served until his discharge. He then began his career at General Motors Truck Assembly, Chevrolet Manufacturing, and Pontiac Metal Fabricating for the next 31 years, retiring from UAW Local 653. Marcus was affiliated with the United States Bowling Congress and The National Bowling Congress for a number of years, bowling in several leagues at Northwest, Town and Country, and Fiero Lanes. Marcus never met a stranger, he always had a conversation for you. He loved to sit around and joke with the older guys talking about whatever. Several years ago, Marcus rededicated his life to Christ, and became affiliated with El Shaddai Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Steve Hawkins. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Timika (Carl Ellebb) Robertson; grandchildren, Tamaria Robertson and Harold Marcus Ellebb; parents, Eddie and Lelia Adams, Jr.; sister, ReGina J. Adams all of Flint; brothers, Donald (Janie) Younger, Sr. of Flint and Eddie (Ruth) Adams, III of Inglewood, CA; brother-in-law, Roy L. Brown; 2 sisters-in-law, Jacqulin Younger and Jocelyn Adams-Grantham, both of Flint; nieces, Tracey (Will) Parham of Ecorse, MI, Jamila Adams of Phoenix, AZ and Jennifer Shock of Kalkaska, MI; nephews, Donnie (Michelle Bennett) Younger, Jr., Jason Younger, Jason(Heidi) Shock, all of Flint, Eddie J. Adams, IV of Phoenix, AZ and special nephew, DeQuincy Adams of Flint, MI; aunts, Fannie Davis of Philadelphia, PA, Alease Adams and Barbara Hunt of Houston, TX, Shirley Hoilett, Lolita Bright, Jessie Adams, all of Flint and JoAn Adams of Grand Blanc, MI; uncles, Donald Adams of Flint, Edgar (Marlene) Waller of Pittsburgh, PA, and James (Barbara) Waller of Philadelphia, PA; several great nieces and nephews; mother of his daughter, Diane Robertson; special friend, Beamon Veasley of Maryland; a host of cousins and many friends. A very special “Thank You” to the many extended family members and dear friends that have touched our lives. You know who you are, and we love you dearly. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his grandparents; several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to express a special thanks to Supt. Steve Hawkins, Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Sr. and the Macedonia Baptist Church family, Dr. Elmahdi Saeed, MD and Staff, the Park Forest Drive friends and neighbors and the staff of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
