Ms. Marcia Lynn Taylor

TAYLOR, Ms. Marcia Lynn - Age 77, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Charles Roots, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church, 10:00 AM Saturday. Ms. Taylor will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home,906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday. Ms. Marcia Lynn Taylor was born February 12, 1944, in Flint, Michigan to the late Theodore and Dallas Taylor. Marcia attended Parkland Elementary School, Emerson Junior High School and Flint Northern High School. After graduating from Flint Northern High School in 1962, she attended Michigan State University earning a B.S. in Mathematics. Continuing her education, she received two master's degrees from Eastern Michigan University. As an employee of Flint Public School System for over 30 years, Ms. Marcia Taylor held the following positions: Bryant Jr. High as a math teacher and counselor, Holmes Jr. High as a counselor, and Flint Jr College (Mott Community College) as a math teacher. Ms. Taylor was a member of multiple clubs and organizations. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church for over 60 years, Michigan Education Association, National Education Association, The Evergreen Estates neighborhood association, Flint Snowbirds Ski Club, NAACP, and Bridge Club. On early Tuesday afternoon, November 23, 2021, Marica departed this world with her great niece and great nephew at her side. Ms. Taylor enjoyed traveling, cooking, playing cards, golfing, spending time with family, and teaching her great niece and great nephew math. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Dallas Taylor; grandparents, Edward and Anna Taylor; uncle, Edward Taylor Jr.; aunt, Minnie Mae Johnson; grandparents, Arthur and Lena Carter; uncle, Charles Carter; brother-in-law, David Polite Ms. Taylor leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy: sister, Ann Polite; niece, Heather Polite-Scott; great-niece, Taylor Scott; great-nephew, Donald Scott Jr., Thelma Brown, Tyree Blakely of Albany, Ga, Johnny (Sharon) Skinner of Elk Grove, CA, Charlene Goldwine of Columbus GA, Mattie Andrews, Kenyetta Bates, Juanita Polite and family of Nashville TN; many additional friends and relatives; Lillie Russell, Dr. William Anderson and Family of Southfield, MI, Essie Mitchell, Katherine Pickett, Ruth Golden, John Smith, Arthur Thrash, Darnella Dones, Dr. William Pickard, Dianne Johnson, Edith Spencer, Yvonne Buford.
