Wansley, Mother Mandy M. - Age 86, passed away, Friday, January 12, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, January 19, 2018 at Harris Memorial Church of God In Christ, 4317 Lippincott Blvd., Burton, MI, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Superintendent Eric C. Bogan Host Pastor. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G- 5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Mother Wansley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday. Mother Mandy May (Willis) Wansley was born February 21, 1931 in Forest MS to John Q. and Dessie Ree Willis. She was a loving and supportive mother of seven. Mother Wansley studied License Practical Nursing and received her license in the State of Michigan. She was a member of the Michigan Nurses Association. Mother Wansley was also recognized as an International Nurse, She was recognized by Who's Who Professionals, Mother Wansley retired from McLaren Hospital Flint where she was a Specialty and Med Nurse. She continued to further her education and obtained a degree in Political Science. Mother Wansley became a member of Harris Temple C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of the late Supt. T. R. Harris in 1960 where she worked in various departments in many roles; such as, President of Purity Class, President of Local, District and State Sunshine Band. She served with Hospitality, Young People Willing Workers, Young Women's Christian Counsel and Christian Women's Counsel, Pastor's Aide, Mother's Board, on the Flower Committee, Prison Ministry, and sang in the Women's Choir. Mother Wansley was a virtuous woman. A very strong woman. And a true woman of God. She had high self esteem and prestige. Mother Wansley was very private, reserved and we'll kept. She believed everyone should have a great education and not just reach but exceed their goals. Mother Wansley loved her family and had compassion for everyone. She was a giver and provider of many. Mother Wansley gave to The American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Hospital, The Police Association, The Fire Department, Old News Boys and many others. She had a heart to help others. Mother Wansley had a few quotes known within her family. Just to name a few: “I am a professional. You act as a professional, talk like a professional and walk like a professional. I ain't no play pretty.” (meaning she didn't play games and was a serious person), “Loose here, get yourself together.” (if you weren't doing what you were suppose to) and Nobody in and nobody out. (you don't leave the house and no one can come in).” Mother Wansley was preceded in death by father, John Q. Willis, Jr., Mother, Dessie Ree (Jefferson) Willis; first husband, Min. David FC Wilson, second, Trustee Ezra Wansley, Sr., Brothers, L.A., AV, Clois, OB, Charlie, Henry and Tom Willis; sisters, Callie Willis and Ethel Viverette, sons, baby Lewis David Wilson, Arnold (Barbara) Wansley, Ervie (Mary) Wansley, son in-law, Min. Edwin F. Tremewan. Mother Mandy May (Willis) Wansley leaves to cherish her memory, son's, Eddie M. (Daisy) Wansley, Mins. Kendall W. (Toni) Wansley, Sr. and Pastor Ezra (Judy) Wansley, Jr.; daughter's, Charlotte (BF) Thames, Linda F. Tremewan, Mae R. (Glenn) Hatter, Desiree Morgan (William) Lyons and Karita L. Wansley. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and many others. Brother John Willis, III, sisters, Emma Brown and Lula Carter. Special god-daughter, Shonda (Dell) Blackwell-Bell.
