BROOME, Mrs. Mancine Eleanor - Age 77, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00, Pastor Marvin A. Jennings Sr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Broome will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM, with family present to receive friends from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM, Monday. Mancine Eleanor Broome was born December 29, 1941 in Flint, Michigan, the eldest of two daughters born to Mance “Snooks” and Ardella Louise (Allen) Williams. Mancine was a lifetime resident of Flint who attended Emerson Elementary and Northern High School. She was faithful and active member of Church and Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church under the pastorate of Dr. Marvin A. Jennings Sr. She played a dynamic role in her spiritual community as a member of the Golden Voices Choir, Christ Enrichment Center, Youth Leadership Inc., Three Score and More Seniors Ministry and the Hospitality Ministry. Mancine was a vital employee of the Flint Board of Education for 31 years. Her God-given talent on artistic expression was enjoyed by all, especially in her capacity as Supervisor of the Graphic Arts Department for the Flint Board of Education, a position she retired from in 2000. She also left beautiful art drawn in her leisure time, for family to treasure. When she was not enjoying her hobbies of art and shopping, she served in many community organizations: Zeta Amica, Greater Flint African-American Hall of Fame, McCree Theater, Links Inc., Genesee County Black Caucus, Bishop Airport Authority and the National Association of Negro Business and Professionals Women’s Clubs, Inc. Mancine Eleanor Broome leaves to cherish her love and memories: 2 loving and devoted children, Vickie Renee Broome and Mance William (Kimberly) Broome Sr.; sister, Camille Eugenia Gillard; 3 grandchildren, Mance William Broome II, Kyla Durie Broome and Colton William Broome, all of Flint; nephew, Reginald “T” (Deborah) Gillard; great-niece, Toccara Westbrook; 4 great-nephews, Robert Allen Priestly, Jason Priestly, Hakim (Stephenie) Gillard and Deiontrize Singleton; 2 great-great-nieces, Itali Camilla Westbrook and Tamera Renee Gillard; cousins, John Henry (Dana) Williams Jr. of Seattle, WA, Claudette Kennedy, Anne Haywood and Shari Haywood, all of Flint; cousins, Rose Champ and family, Cynthia Shephard and family of Cleveland, OH, Cynthia Stallings and family of Jacksonville, FL, Sandy Fletcher and family of of Eldersburg, MD; god-son, Mitch Hawkins of Kalamazoo, MI; a host other relatives near and far including, Robin Fields (best friend), Annie Duncan, Tiny Presnall, Mary Coleman and special family friend, Norman (Kay) Bryant of Flint, and Craig Carter of Bernalillo, NM. Mancine was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Sylvester “Boby” Broome; parents, Mance “Snooks” and Ardella Louise (Allen) Williams; grandparents, Robert and Camilla Allen; brothers-in-law, Vernell Williams and Eston Broome; niece, Sheila Priestly; cousins, Barbara Jean Hickson, Chanda Kennedy and Diane Martin.
