Mother Malinda Fisher Pittmon

PITTMON, Mother Malinda Fisher - Age 101, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Regency at Grand Blanc. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Samuel Berry III, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mother Pittmon will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12:00 PM-8:00 PM with family present to receive friends from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday. From labor to reward, Mother Malinda Pittmon, daughter of Marshall and Nancy (Hubbard) Alexander was born March 5, 1917 in Coldwater, Mississippi where she attended school. At the age of 11, she moved to West Memphis, Arkansas. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. Later she was united in holy matrimony to Earl L. Fisher, 1943 the family relocated to Flint, Michigan until his death in 1951. In 1959, Malinda was reunited with Abe Henry Pittmon until his death in 1984. Mother Pittmon joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in 1943 and remained a faithful member for 75 years until her death. Mother Pittmon served on the Mother’s Board, Missionary Society, Deaconess Board, attended Sunday school and Bible class and sang faithfully with the Gospel Chorus for 50 years. To ensure her family knew the bible, she started a weekly family bible class with her children and grandchildren, taught by Sis Betty Winbush. Mother Pittmon’s hobbies included, cooking, shopping, traveling, sewing, floral arrangements, and fishing. She loved spending time with her family, praying, reading her bible, and ministering to others as she handed out her “Healing scriptures” to anyone she encountered. She never met a stranger. As a result of her generous spirit, love of people, and pleasant personality, she was loved by many, and her legacy will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Mother Pittmon was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, great-great-great grandmother, housewife, and entrepreneur. She quietly departed this life Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Regency of Grand Blanc. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children. She leaves to cherish in her memory, 2 daughters: Celestine (James) Wheeler, Elder JoAnn Brown; 2 sons: Bishop Earl L. (Fay) Fisher, Jr., Abe Duane Pittmon; daughter-in-law, Janice Fisher; step-daughter Ella Tee Willis, 46 grandchildren; 146 great grandchildren; and a combination of 54 great-great and great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special daughters, God-daughters, and all her ‘Boys’. She was preceded in death by her parents: Marshall and Nancy (Hubbard) Alexander, husbands Abe Pittmon and first husband Earl Fisher, Sr.; daughters: Shirley Joseph, MaryAnn Hodo, and Linda Goines; sons: Earl Fisher (infant), Donald Fisher, and George L Fisher. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Arif, Dr. Saleen, the entire staff at Genesys Hospital 4th Floor South staff, Regency at Grand Blanc staff, Tamika Roland, Reverence Hospice, Deacon Vinson Lever, Minister Joseph Gaines, Minister Ronald Roland, Pastor Seon Thompson, Rev. Alfred L. Harris, Sr., Bishop Neal Roberson, Unity of Faith members, Dionne Dickerson, Pastor Samuel Berry III, Elder Lakisha Berry, and the Macedonia Baptist Church family.
