PERRY, Mother Mae Lillian - Age 99, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, February 24, 2017 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Dr. Marvin A. Jennings, Sr. officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mother Perry will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, with family present from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM to receive friends. Mother Mae Lillian Perry was born in Pope, Mississippi on March 8, 1917 to Willie Mae Martin High. She was the second oldest of six children. She married Nathaniel C. Perry, Jr. and moved to Memphis, Tennessee. There they had their one and only child - the love of her life Nathaniel C. Perry III. Throughout her life she was a hard working mother who was handicapped shortly after her birth. She worked many years as a cook, a laborer, and a domestic for various families in the Memphis area. The highlight of her domestic work was for the Goldsmith family for whom she worked until her retirement and moved to Flint, Michigan in 1992. She united with the Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church family under Pastor Brady and continued with Pastor Jennings until her transition on Valentine’s Day 2017. She provided insight and advice wherever and whenever she could to her church family and friends, while enjoying their pastoral ministries. She leaves to cherish her memory, her only child, Judge Nathaniel C. III (Diane) Perry; her next loves her grandson, Nathaniel C. IV (Kytella) Perry; her granddaughter, Coreey Perry; her great grandchildren, Kyrin, Kolin and Chelsea Perry; a host of nieces, nephews, in laws and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae High; her brothers, Lloyd McGill, James Chatman, Augustus King and James Elliott; her sister, Cornelia Purdy and her great-granddaughter, Cortney Perry. The family wishes to extend the deepest appreciation to Pastor Dr. Marvin A. Jennings, Sr., her Grace Emmanuel Church family, Loving Hands Adult Day Care, Valley Area Agency on Aging, MTA Your Ride, Briarwood Meadows and Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Special Thanks to: Cheryl Perry, Ann Gregory, Ola Ellison, and each and everyone who offered a smile, a kind word and inspiration as Mother Perry traveled this journey to transition.
