MILLER, Mrs. Mae Helen - Age 85, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Rev. Dr. Rabon Turner, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday, April 27, 2024. Mrs. Miller will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, April 26, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM with family present from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM to receive friends.Mrs. Mae Helen Miller was born December 1, 1938 in Covington, Louisiana, the daughter of Ellis Morgan and Verna Kelly Frost Richardson-Morgan. She accepted Christ in August of 1972 at the age of 34 becoming a member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lindell L. Brady. Mae served as a Trustee, Deaconess Leader and Sunday School Teacher. She was extremely intelligent. Mae graduated with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. She continued at Michigan State University graduating with a Masters Degree in Education. Mae retired from Cody Elementary School after 25 plus years. After retirement, she worked at the GEBC Early Covenant Learning Center. Mae enjoyed serving at church, traveling especially with Three Score and More Ministry under Sis. Ola Jones. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and classical music. Mae also loved reading her Bible and romance novels especially Harliquinn Romance Novels as well as Home & Gardens and décor magazines. She also read a lot about her diabetes diagnosis that was given to her. Mae always said she knew what was wrong before the doctor, sometimes she was her own doctor because of what she read. The doctors never knew what they were talking about according to her. Mrs. Mae Helen Miller leaves to cherish her memory: sister/friend, Velma Williams; 5 children, 2 daugthers, Celeste Miller and Verna (Robert) Crawford, all of Flint; 3 sons, Samuel P. Miller of Clarkston, MI, Joseph G. (Elizabeth) Miller of Hanover, MD and Wayne H. Miller Sr. of Lake City, MI; grandchildren, Celeste K. Perkins of Grand Blanc, MI, Eish J. Robinson of Phoenix, AZ, Junelle Miller of Big Rapids, MI, Wayne H. Miller Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI, Ronald C. Cardwell, Racquell C. Cardwell of St. Louis, MO, Deshawndra N. (Justin) Conway, Darrontae Johnson, D’Anthony Johnson, all of Flint and Candice Crooks, of Baltimore, MD; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; niece, Paula (Jerome) Threlkeld of Grand Blanc, MI; a host of other nieces and nephews of Illinois; brother-in-law, Walter Miller of Flint; sister-in-law, Katherine Overington; Uncle Sylvester (Tenesha) Miller of Louisville, MS; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Miller; daughter, Cynthia Miller; parents, Ellis and Verma Morgan; sister, Laverne Harper; niece, Sylvia Harris; great-granddaughters, Amayia and Onesty Johnson. The family would like to thank Tranquility AFC Home, Hurley Medical Center, GEBC family, Pastor Dr. Rabon L. Turner. and Pastor George Wilkinson and Word of Life Christian Church.
