HIGHTOWER-PETERKIN, Mrs. Mae F. - Age 65, finally went into her home with the Lord after her strong battle with cancer Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at her residence. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, February 9, 2009 at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 8266 N. Vassar Rd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Pastor T.J. Lee officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Monday. Mrs. Hightower-Peterkin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Sunday. She had the sweetest disposition in the world! Mrs. Mae "Frances" Hightower-Peterkin was born on September 22, 1943, in Flint, Michigan, to Kate and William Talley, “Frances” was given the knowledge to succeed at a very young age. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School and worked in Buick Plant a division of General Motors for 25 years before retiring in 2000. Frances loves to travel and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to watch movies, listen to music, dance, and help out anyone who was in need. Frances was also an active member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, where she spent much of her time and formed a close relationship with the Lord. Her heart was as big as the Pacific Ocean and she was a tough as nails. Frances was loved and respected by everyone and she will surely be missed. Mrs. Mae F. Hightower-Peterkin leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Lascelles Peterkin; 3 daughters, Belinda Gail Hightower of Las Vegas, NV, Rozena Hightower of Dallas, TX and Karen (Donald) Smith of Peoria, IL; 5 sons, Jessie Lee Hightower, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Sherron Tally of Albuquerque, NM, Jeffrey Hightower of Capital Heights, MD and Steven (Onquette) Hightower of Flint, MI; honorary son, Lascelles Peterkins, Jr.; 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Grey of Flint, MI, Esther Banks of Flint, MI, Geraldine (Albert) Savage of Mt. Morris, MI, Ruby Dale of Flint, MI and Rose Moffett of Lapeer, MI; brothers, William Talley, Jr., Roosevelt (Stephanie) Talley, Fred Talley, all of Flint, MI and Ruben (Willa) Talley of Lapeer, MI. Mrs. Hightower-Peterkin was preceded in death by her parents, William and Kate Talley; brother, Eugene Ervin; son, Reginald Hightower; and grandson, Dierre Woodyard.
