AKINS, Bishop M.C. - Age 84, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, February 1, 2021 at Triumph Church-Flint Campus, 1657 Broadway Blvd., with Home Going Service commencing at 11:00 AM; Bishop William H. Murphy Jr,, officiating and Bishop Devay Myatt, Eulogist. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Monday. Bishop Akins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home,, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1:00 PM-6:00 PM Sunday, with family present from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM to receive friends. Bishop M.C. Akins was born on August 13, 1936, in Altheimer, Arkansas, the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Olan and Deliea Akins. Later in life M.C. moved to Flint, Michigan where he accepted his calling and served at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. M.C. worked and retired from Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors Corporation for 25 years. In the year of 1965, he founded Heavenly Host Baptist Church. Later in life Pastor M.C. Akins became a part of the Full Gospel Fellowship. Where he was known as “MR. FULL GOSPEL”, he held the Office of International Bishop of Overseers. After 50 Years of service Bishop M.C. Akins retired. Bishop M.C. Akins leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Elder Geneva Akins, 3 sons & 3 daughters, Mack (Gwen) Akins of Pine Bluff, AR, Herman (Delorse) Akins of Lakewood, WA, Anthony L. Humphrey of New Jersey, NY, Yolanda (Frank) Thomas, Priscilla (Dennis) Causey, all of Flint, and Lakisa Nelson of Compton, CA; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Elizabeth A. (Riley) Gipson and Dorothy J. Durden of Los Angeles, CA; sisters-in-law, Juanita Humphrey of Flint, MI, Maria Browning of Tucson, AZ and Doris Cannady of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, Damon Humphrey of San Diego, CA; a host of niece, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Bishop Akins was preceded in death by his daughter, Vivan Lacey; parents, Olan and Deliea Akins; 2 brothers, O.D. Akins and Olan Akins Jr.; in-laws, Charles McGrew and Fannie Humphrey; 3 sisters-in-law, Georgia M. Sims, Oralee L. Anderson and Constance Humphrey; brother-in-law, Lance Humphrey; aunts, uncles, cousins, and best friends, Bishop Otis A Floyd and Pastor Robert L. Sims. The family of Bishop M.C. Akins will like to thank the staff of McLaren-Flint and Willowbrook Nursing Home staff for doing a great service of care for Bishop Akins.
