RUSSELL, Mrs. Lueresia (Barfield) - Age 94, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, in Lancaster, CA. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, February 24, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral services commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 Saturday. Mrs. Russell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, February 23, 2024. Mrs. Lueresia (Barfield) Russell entered God’s world on May 2, 1929 in DeKalb, Mississippi, the daughter of Mr. John and Mrs. Mattie Barfield. And the sister to 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Surviving sister was Mr. Marie Valentine. Lueresia attended Harris High School in Meridian, MS. Wife of Mr. James Russell and proud mother of Alfred Harkless, wife (Kim) and Patricia Finley, husband, Tommy. Nana loved her grandsons, Sean, Maurice and Terence, all the brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, great-grandchildren, and in-laws is truly who she loved dearly. Our good time is when we would gather together week after week celebrating with fun, eating, drinking, laughing and fishing. Mrs. Russell retired from Buick Cafeteria, where she got the nickname “Sweet Lou!”. She met many nice people because she never met a stranger. She loved to laugh and be-friend other people. Her favorite quotes were: “This is the Day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be Glad in it.” Psalms 118:24, “Life is what you make it...and mother you made it BEAUTIFUL for us.” “Your hugs and beautiful smile.” “If you like it Love it.:” The things she enjoyed were, planting flowers with hanging baskets of flowers on her porch and gardening. She was a block club member that helped with planting for the neighborhood gardening for all those in need of a vegetable or two. Mrs. Russell enjoyed food canning from vegetable to jelly and jams and also wine making. She loved bowling, watching WWF Wrestling Friday Night Smackdown. And for a quiet mood she enjoyed Word-Finds. Mrs. Russell had a passion for sewing and she was a Professional Seamstress and perfectionist. Truly a Fashion Diva. Sweet Lou loved to dance and when she meets others in Heaven, I am sure she will Dance with Grace.
