Sister Lucy Jean Spight

SPIGHT, Sister Lucy Jean - Age 78, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at Fostrian Manor-Flushing, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Greater Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C., 6702 N. Dort Hwy., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Bishop Roger L. Jones Sr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Spight will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Sister Lucy Jean Spight was born July 10, 1941 in Rison, Arkansas, the daughter of M.C. and Versie Releford. Lucy was the first of eight of children by the couple. As a child, she attended Lanwood Middle and High School in Rison. Sister Spight was a longtime resident of Flint, Michigan. She was united in marriage to Mr. Tommie DeWitt Spight on July 25, 1965. Sister Lucy was Saved, Sanctified and Filled with the Holy Ghost. She was a devoted member of Greater Holy Temple Church Of God In Christ, where she truly enjoyed singing and traveling with the Choir. Lucy was employed and Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant, a division of General Motors Corporation. Upon retiring from General Motors, Lucy earned her Cosmetology License through the State of Michigan. She provided her Professional Cosmetology Services at The Celebrity Room on Clio Rd. in Flint. Sister Lucy Jean Spight leaves to cherish her memory: 3 sons, Prentiss D. (Shawn) Spight of Las Vegas, NV, Ryan Spight and Garth Spight, both of Flint; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 6 sisters, Esther L. Iverson of Stuttgart, AR, Doris Totty of Xenia, OH, Mary (Joe) Mosley of Mt. Morris, MI, Janet Mitchell-Thompson of Tucson, AZ, Rita (Terry) Roberson of Las Vegas, NV and LaGail Biggs of Sherwood, AR; 3 brothers, Lewis (Velda) Releford of Rison, AR, Charlie Mitchell of Cleveland, OH and Willie Mitchell of Toledo, OH; brother-in-law, Andy Coleman of Fordyce, AR; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mrs. Georgia Ford, Mother Beatrice Kendall, Mother Hersheylean Powell, Dr. Deborah Hamilton and Mother Mamie Coleman. Sister Spight was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie D. Spight; parents, M.C. and Versie Releford; sisters, Lettie V. Rodgers and Katie Coleman; and brother, O.C. Releford.
