JONES, Mrs. Lucille Maxine - Age 86, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Wednesday, June 18, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Pastor Alfred Harris, Sr., officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Wednesday. Mrs. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 4-8PM Tuesday. Mrs. Lucille Maxine Jones transpired into eternity on June 9, 2008. She was born in Brookport, IL. Mrs. Jones was the daughter of Daisy Mae Thompson and Henry Elias Kelley. She accepted Christ at an early age at Freewill Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. She later relocated to Marion, IL and married Joseph W. Jones. She was a faithful member of over 50 years at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she was the assistant Sunday School Teacher, former Broadcast Announcer and former Senior Choir Member. Mrs. Jones was an outstanding volunteer and senior citizen advocate for the city of Flint. Mrs. Lucille Jones leaves to cherish the following loved ones: her handsome loving giant Joseph W. Jones Sr., 4 daughters Rochelle (Rev. Freelon) Threlkeld; Judith Malone; Donna “Cookie” Jones all of Flint and Kimberly Caldwell of Denver, CO. She leaves three sons Joseph Jones Jr., Barry Jones of Flint and Larry Jones of Atlanta, GA. She thanked God for her children and often said that she was blessed with a loving husband, who took care of his family. She has 21 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren, brother Leon Martin, sister-in-law Rose Jones, 5 brothers-in-law Willie (Bonnie) Jones, Jerry Jones, Rufus Jones and Esau Jones. Special friends including Francis Kelly Davis, Mr. & Mrs. Wheatley, Jackie Fielder, Ruby Ross, cousin Bernstein Smith, and Macedonia Baptist Church Sunday School class members, a host of nieces and nephews. She has won many certificates and awards. The following are some of her recognitions: recognized by Senator Deborah Cherry; outstanding senior citizen volunteer by Major Stanley at the First Senior Dinner; represented VAAA, and Flint at the White House Conference in 1995; Mott Adult Senior athletes program advisor; member of the Senior State Advisory Council in Lansing; Macedonia Congress graduate; and she received a 49 years attendance certificate from Macedonia Baptist Church. She was a former Executive Board member of the Flint Branch NAACP, former member of the Community Gospel Choir, and Hasselbring Senior Citizen Center Choir. She attended Mott Community College. The late Larry Foster, Valaria J. Conerly-Moon, Mayor Woodrow Stanley, the late Dr. J.C. Curry, Dean Turner Hartfield, Rev. George Dunnigan and the late Dr. A.J. Pointer were among her mentors. She was preceded in death by the following: her son baby Brian; mother Daisy Martin; father Elias Kelley; sister Dorothy Mae; brother Herschel; grandson Darryl Jones, and 4 sisters-in-law Martha Carter, Mary Johnson, Annie Mae Jones and Lena Marshall. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the seventh floor staff at Hurley Medical Center, Home Network, Inc., Rev. Woody Etherly Jr. Rev.
