HOWARD, Mrs. Lucille - Age 70, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Maplewood Manor in Clio, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Rev. Marvin A. Jennings Sr. Host Pastor, Rev. Gilbert Benman officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 Am Saturday. Mrs. Howard will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday with family present from 4:00-6:00 PM. Ms. Lucille Howard was born to Roy and Ophelia Porter on October 23, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from Melrose High School where she was a member of the Jacquelette’s Dramatics Club, Glee Club, Annual Staff and the Young Adult Professional Business Women’s Club. After moving to Flint, Michigan with her then husband Robert Marcellus Howard, she became a member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church in 1989, ministering with the Outreach Ministries and Adult Choir. She displayed her talents at the Floyd J. McCree Theatre, under the direction of Laura Jean Thompson and with the Flint Symphony Orchestra Holiday Pops. Lucille was a dedicated worker and held several positions of employment including Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service, Insurance Agent, Furniture Sales and Home Care Giver. Lucille enjoyed life by singing, traveling, spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, who affectionately called her “Gamma” and most of all, praising and serving her Lord and Savior. Ms. Lucille Howard leaves to cherish her precious memories: 2 children, Darryl (Stephanie) Howard and Taura Howard, both of Flint; sister, Thereatha (Marvin) Herron; brothers, Jerry Porter, Jerome Porter, all of Memphis, TN and Calvin (Mary) Saulsberry of Dallas, TX; grandsons, Darryl (Tierra) Howard, Stephon Howard, George Rubin, all of Flint, Alphonso Page, Jr. of Atlanta, GA and Rueben Harvey of Columbia, TN; great-grandchildren, Aaron Garner, Rylee and Peyton Howard; god-daughter, Jorgina Rubin, all of Flint; a host of other relatives including, nephew, Darron Gray of Virginia Beach, VA; nieces, Clarissa Walton and Marlena Herron, both of Memphis TN; and dear friends, Robert M. Howard, Rick Rodriguez, Bertha Neal and Brenda Ellison. Ms. Howard was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Neeley; both parents, Roy and Ophelia Porter; brother, Lonzelle Walton; aunts, Floy McFallen and Ola Mae Baker. The family appreciates the many kind expressions of love, support and concern that has been extended to them during this time of battle and bereavement. We would like to express special thanks to Maplewood Manor, especially Stephanie, Neico, Donelle and RaMona for their extra loving care, McLaren Hospice, Rev. Dr. Marvin A. Jennings, Sr and Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church family, Pastor Rodney Murphy and Victorious Word Church family, Pastor Herbert Miller II and Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle family and many others for their prayers and continuous support.
