Mrs. Lucille Campbell

CAMPBELL, Mrs. Lucille - age 88, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Gentiva Health Services. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Norman Booker, Jr. officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Campbell may be viewed during the family hour only. Mrs. Lucille Campbell was born March 9, 1925 in Scranton, Arkansas, the daughter of Jack and Nita Poole. Lucille left home at 17 years of age not only because she loved to go places, but she wanted to help her younger siblings by finding a job. Lucille did find a job in Vancouver, WA on a ship. She later came to Michigan and worked as a waitress. Lucille wanted to help her mom and dad so she sent packages home to her younger brothers and sister in Arkansas. Mrs. Campbell family was very important to her, her sisters and brothers came to Michigan where she could try to help them. Eventually she met and married James Campbell who she who she met here in Flint, MI. Throughout her life she wanted to make sure her family was taken care of. Lucille made so many people smile; she had the ability to bring out the best in people. Her flowers in her yard were like a paradise. One of her many talents was cooking, everyone wanted all of her special dishes on holidays. No one could quite get their recipes to taste like hers. Lucille would always take time out to listen to your problems and help you solve them. She had the ability to make something you thought was so overwhelming seem not so bad. She will always be the strongest person I’ve known and most inspirational. Many people thought of Lucille as a friend, because she made you feel special. If there was only one word to describe her it would be amazing. Mrs. Campbell leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Evelyn Keahey; 2 sons, Larry Campbell, Bruce Campbell; 12 grandchildren, Caresian Campbell of Grand Rapids, MI, Gina Smith of Flint, Terran and Terrell Hairston of Jacksonville, FL, Lamar Campbell of Fort Meyer, FL, Laura and Brandie Baker of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Jason and Bryan Campbell of Pittsburg, PA, James and Shanice Keahey of Montrose, MI, Briana Powell of Bowling Green, KY; grandparents, Mrs. Adline Williams; 5 sisters, Velma Hughes and Mae Ruth Bright both of Seattle, WA, Dorothy Trudeaux of Scranton, AK, Barbara Ramos of South Carolina, Pauline Collins of Fort Smith, AK; 6 brothers, Charles Poole of Douglasville, GA, John Poole, Robert Poole, Lester Poole, Chester Poole all of Scranton, AK, And Ray Poole of Florida; 3 sister-in-laws, Arlene Poole, Nene Poole, and Belinda Poole; 2 brother-in-laws, Joe Hughes, and Lenard Collins; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Pat Hitchye, Ray Wright, Dlara Collins, Eileen Lewis, Arlone Smith, and Vie Philips. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her husband, James Campbell; parents, Jack and Nita Poole, brothers, Jessie and George Willie Poole; son, Kirk Campbell; daughter, Barbara Baker.
