SCOTT, Mrs. Louise - Age 78, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Stephen Murphy, officiating. Interment, Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM. Mrs. Scott will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. My wife stepped across the threshold that we call death, but it was only a step into another room of our Everlasting Father’s house. Louise was born October 17, 1944, to the union of James and Mable Booker in Greenwood, Mississippi. She was the oldest of three children; her second oldest brother, George Anthony Booker preceded her in death. Louise accepted Christ at an early age joining Locus Grove Baptist Church in Greenwood, MS and remained a faithful member until her parents relocated to St. Louis, Missouri joining with her parents at Union Tabernacle Baptist Church and remained a member until she moved to Flint, Michigan. Louise received her early education at McNease Elementary, Stone Street Junior High and graduated from Broad Street High School in Greenwood, MS. Louise and Richard Scott met in Greenwood, MS but with she being in St. Louis with her parents, he drove many times to St. Louis to be near the young lady he adored and asked her parents if he could marry her. He was given approval and on June 18, 1966, the two united in Holy Matrimony; and later moved to Flint, Michigan. Continuing her faith in Christ, she joined Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle Church where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Dorcas Circle where she served many years and remained a member until her death. Louise brought joy to her family with the birth of two sons, Richard Kevin Scott and Ronnie Eric Scott, both preceded her in death. Louise was a quiet and shy person, but when she got to know you, she would open up and start smiling and become friendly. She showed her compassion for people by sharing her skills at Hurley Medical Center performing nursing duties. Her other places of employment were Montgomery Wards, Nabisco and Heard Start. Louise departed this life on October 2, 2023, with her husband of 57 years by her side. Louise is survived by her husband, Richard Scott; brother, James (Judy) Booker, their sons, Daniel of San Diego, CA and Anthony of St. Louis, MO; 3 brothers-in-law, Willie Scott, David (Lesidia) Scott of Memphis, TN and Otis Scott of Greenwood, MS; 3 sisters-in-law, Barbara Murry of Southfield, MI, Mary (James) Dunbar of Fort Wayne, IN and Roberta Turntine of Memphis, TN; cousin, Dorothy (Maurice) Bibbens of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
