JACKSON, Mother Louise Catherine - Age 96, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 424 Kennelworth Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Major A. Stewart officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. Mother Jackson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1 p.m.- 8 p.m. Friday. Mother Louise Catherine Jackson was born January 23, 1917 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Edward and Mary Jane (Willis) Morgan. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she worked as a Church Clerk, Financial Secretary, Secretary of Ada Berry Class, Past President and Secretary of The Missionary Society, Mother’s Board and Treasurer of the Mt. Olive Support Group. Mother Jackson was also Past Secretary of the Thursday Afternoon Club, Financial Secretary of the Great Lakes District Association Women’s Auxiliary and The State and National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs. She has received awards from her children, church, Thursday Afternoon Club, Michigan State Association of Colored Women’s Club and the Great Lakes Baptist District Association. Mother Louise Catherine Jackson leaves to cherish her memory: 6 daughters, Lillian Houston, Margaret Jackson, Maxine Tornes, Dorothy Payton, Betty (William) Tipper and Sharon (Vernon) Payne; daughter-in-law, Ella Louise Jackson; 33 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 41 great-great-grandchildren; 3 nieces; 1 nephew; a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews. Mother Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Willis W. Jackson, Sr.; 2 sons, Willis Jackson Jr. and Thomas Jackson; daughter, Mary Frances; 2 great-grandsons, Kenneth Dickerson Jr. and Darrius Robinson; parents, Edward and Mary Morgan; 4 brothers, William, James, George and Herman; and daughter-in-law, Sarah Jackson. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. Dr. Major A. Stewart and the Mt.
