MEEKS, Mr. Louis, Sr. - Age 32, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1309 N. Ballenger Hwy., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Rev. Dr. Tara Sutton officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. Meeks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Louis Meeks, Sr. was born July 15, 1977 in Flint, Michigan, the youngest son of Isaac and Maggie Meeks. Louis professed his faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 10 at E.L. Gordon Methodist Church in Flint, Michigan and rededicated himself to the Lord at the age of 32. He recently became a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Flint, where he and his children were baptized. Louis loved fishing, installing and repairing car audio stereo systems and playing basketball. He was a loving and caring father to his children and a great uncle to his nieces and nephews, always trying to steer them in the right direction. Mr. Louis Meeks. Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: fiancée, Robin Barber of Flint; 4 children, Louis Mitchell Meeks, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Lyrics Monay, Mitchell Allen Louis and Deontay Isaac Louis Meeks, all of Flint; parents, Isaac (Maggie) Meeks of Flint; 11 siblings, Noyland (Marie) McCoy of Scott, AK, Virginia Meeks of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Yvette White of Fenton, MI, Eureka Meeks of Davison, MI, Asie Meeks of Detroit, MI, Danny (Ivory) Gipson and David Meeks of Grand Blanc, MI, Tedmund Meeks, Isaac (Tasha & Rhonda) Meeks, Dequincy (Sherry) Passmore and James (Sharolette) Horne, all of Flint; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Meeks was preceded in death by his grandparents, Isaac (Asie) Meeks, Sr., Richard (Dorthy) Hadley; 4 uncles, Arthur, Jesse, Gene Meeks and Rev. Elbert Harris; aunt, Ruth Meeks; nephew, Da’Tavius Meeks; 7 cousins; and 2 special friends of the family, Dion “Lil Rock” Hairston and Earl D. Gaines, Jr. The Meeks family would like to express special thanks to Bethel United Methodist Church, Michael Gene Thomas, Sr. and the staff of the Workforce Development Center and Continuing Education Department of Mott Community College.
