Mr. Louis C. "Pee Wee" McLilly

MCLILLY, Mr. Louis C. “Pee Wee”- Age 79, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at his residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Promise Tabernacle Church, 815 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Frederick L. Flowers, Sr. Host Pastor. Rev. Joseph Jones, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. McLilly will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Louis Calvin McLilly Sr. was born January 7, 1934 in Dubach, Louisiana to Lawrence and Rosie McLilly. On January 10, 1953, Louis united in Holy Matrimony with the woman who would become the love of his life, Ms. Catherine Ford. Later that year they relocated to Flint, Michigan to begin their life and family together. Mr. McLilly worked tirelessly for 55 years with General Motors Service Parts Organization (SPO) as a member of Local 659. Mr. McLilly greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cruising around town in his mobile home, sitting on his porch to watch over the neighborhood, and listening to music. His gifted James Brown dance moves were often the highlight of any family gathering or special event. Mr. Louis Calvin McLilly, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of 60 years, Catherine McLilly; 3 daughters, Barbara (Ralph, Sr.) Powell of Grand Rapids, MI, Gwendolyn (Aamir) Muhammad-Fleming of Saginaw, MI, and Catherine Denise McLilly of Flint; 4 sons, Louis Calvin, Jr., Lawrence, Bruce, and Cavanta McLilly, all of Flint; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, L. D. Mayes of Los Angeles, CA; sisters-in-law, Annie Ruth Ford, Shirley Ford, Irene Smith; special sister-in-law, Lucille Edwards; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including Doretha Breed, Herman Lusane, Rodney “Gip” Gipson, Cynthia Jones, Abraham & Salina Felix and the Summers, Matthews, Ford, and Powell families. Mr. McLilly was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence & Rosie McLilly; son, Carl Harris; special daughter, Tara Breed; brothers, Lee Norris and Sammie Lee Mayes; sisters-in-law, Clara Dunn, Dorothy Drake, Mary Dawson & Claudie B. Harris; brothers-in-law, J. P. Ford, Billy Joe Harris & Jimmy Edwards. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor & Mrs. Frederick L.
