Mrs. Loucille Lyons

LYONS, Mrs. Loucille - Age 76, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 a.m Monday, October 22, 2012 at New Creation Church of God, 3472 Lennon Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Herbert Banks officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Lyons will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Loucille Wilson Lyons was born January 16, 1936 daughter of Jessie James Wilson and Janie Smith Wilson-Jones in Philadelphia, MS. Loucille was the fourth child out of twelve children. She was raised in Philadelphia, MS and graduated from Hopewell Vocational High School in 1956. Loucille moved to Flint, MI in 1956, where she was united in Holy Matrimony to Melvin Lucas Lyons on March 31, 1957 at 12th Street Church of God. To this union seven children was born. She was a faithful member of the New Creation Church of God (formally 12th Street Church of God) where she was a member of the Second Half of Life Ministry (formally the Golden Ages) and the Senior Choir, serving as the choir secretary for several years. Mrs. Loucille Lyons leaves to cherish her memory: seven children; three sons, Phillip D. Lyons Sr. and Melvin A. Lyons of Flint, MI and William O. Lyons of Silver Springs, MD; four daughters, Joyce M. Lyons, Audrey M. Lyons, and Jennifer R. Lyons all Flint, MI and Cynthia (DeVal) Hodge of Huntsville, AL; husband, Melvin Lucas Lyons of Philadelphia, MS; brother, Howard (Bessie) Wilson of Flint, MI; five sisters, Louise Grady, Odra Jones, Civeroreen Wilson, Hattie (James P.) Moore of Flint, MI, and Margaret (Hubert) Houston of Philadelphia, MS; special brothers-In-law, Marshall P. Lyons of Flint, MI, Jessie (Imogene) Lyons, Andy (Doris) Lyons, William Lyons, all of Philadelphia, MS, and Samuel B. Franklin of Jackson, MS; sister-In-law, Claudie Lyons of Philadelphia, MS; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, aunt, Annie May Smith; 21 nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins including the Smith, Wilson, Kirkland, Moore, Lyons, Cox, Buckley and O’Neal families and special friends, Geraldine Turner, Dorothy Jones, Tyrone Kelly, Mary Clemons, Marsha Perry, Georgia Pearson, and many, many more, including special friend and employer, Merlin Victor. Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie J. Wilson and Janie Smith Wilson-Jones; sister, Mary Frances Wilson-Star; brothers, Lee Morris Wilson and Murtis Wilson; and daughter-in-law, Callie Ann Lyons. The family would like to wish special thanks to the staff of Hurley Medical Center, Hurley ICU, Willowbrook Manor, Pastor Dr. Herbert and Sis Gloria Banks, and the New Creation Church of God family.
