BRANCH, Mrs. Lottie Mae - Age 87, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 in Merritt, Georgia. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, April 5, 2024 at Morning Star Baptist Church, 4075 E. Atherton Rd., Burton, MI, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Rev. Keith Bigelow, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4300 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday, April 5, 2024. Mrs. Branch will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 6:00PM. Mrs. Lottie Mae Branch “Red” was born November 11, 1936 in Canton, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Lucille Jones and Earl Sims. Lottie was always active in basketball after graduating from Lanier High School. Years later she met the love of her life, Mr. JW Branch and they had an Easter Wedding and took residence in Jackson, Mississippi. From this union, 3 beautiful daughters were born, Carmelia, Vicki and Shelia. Years later the family moved to Flint, Michigan and became members of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the teachings of the late Reverend henry Robinson. Soon after, she joined the Nurses Guild, Usher Board, Mission Board and the Eastern Star. Mrs. Branch was well known for her modeling style, with beautiful hats and matching suits. She loved to attend rummage sales, sometimes having her own. Lottie loved being a salesperson for Avon. She was a Teachers Aid at Parkland Elementary School and a Lunch Aid at Westwood Heights School District. Saturday nights were a game changer, her words were “See you soon Rose, Jerry, Bobby, Pearl, Louis and Mandy.” Upon giving me my flowers, Remona, Erma, Anthony, Big David, Dewynta Ware, Stephany Alyse, Marquita. Mrs. Lottie Mae Branch leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Carmelia Burns, Vicki (Dr. Dennis Powell), all of Flint and Shelia Lowery of Marietta, GA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Damon and Jamese Keith, Jason Burns, Erika, Jai Christian and Jadyn Burns, all of Flint, Marcus and Mecca Thompson of Davenport, IA, Cameron, Shannon, Svaja and Camri Burns, all of Flint, Rashad Thomson, Jalisa and Desiree Jennings of Marietta, GA, Jorden, Rmyia, Khilynn and Jaquel, all of Laurel, MS, Jon’Depaul Burns of Flint, Cadet Steven Thompson of Fort Ustis, VA and Cadet Osha’Love Lowery of Fort Gordon, GA; god-son, Brian Mickens II “Chocolate City”; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Branch was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. JW Branch (they would have celebrated 65 years on Easter Sunday); father, Earl Sims; mother, Lucil Jones; step-mother, Willie James; grandson, Ryan Burns; great-granddaughter, Cymone Thompson; sisters, Ernestine Pfeiffer, Minnie Jean Robinson, Linnie Jean Simms and Estella Sims Gray; brothers, Larry Jones, Marion Moore and James Earl Esco. The family would like to express special thanks to Lee Toins, Mrs. Claudette Flowers, the Walton Heights family, F.A.C.E.D.
