WILLIAMS, Mr. Lorenza - age 63, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center-Saginaw, MI. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Greater New Bethel Church Of God In Christ, 925 W. Atherton Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Supt. Brian D. Grundy officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Williams was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Marines. Mr. Lorenza Williams was born on February 27, 1951 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Clarence and Jessie L. Williams. Lorenza was a resident of Vet’s Manor in Battle Creek, MI. He was a dedicated son and brother. Lorenza enjoyed assembling puzzles, collecting jewelry, reading books; especially the bible and memorizing scripture. He was a long time member of Greater New Bethel Church Of God In Christ. Lorenza completed his GED prior to joining the military. He was medically discharged from the USMC. Lorenza was employed at Chevrolet Truck and Bus, a division of General Motors. He attended Mott Community College. Mr. Lorenza Williams leaves to cherish his memory: son, Carlos Hodo; granddaughter, Amari S. Hodo; mother, Jessie L. Williams; 4 sisters, Freddie B. Atkins, Jill B. Brown of Phoenix, AZ, Shirley (Leo) Lipsey of Mt. Morris, MI and Barbara (Wesley) Stone; brother, Paul D. Williams of Saginaw, MI; sister-in-law, Diana Williams; brother-in-law, Brian D. Grundy; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Lorenza Williams was preceded in death by: father, Clarence Williams; longtime friend, Cynthia Hodo; 3 sisters, Yvonne Davis, Dorothy Mae Brown and Jene’ D. Grundy; 3 brothers, Clarence Edward Williams, Jack A. Williams, and Johnny B. Williams; 2 brothers-in-law, Charles Atkins and Howard K. Brown Sr. The family would like to express special thanks to the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Ann Arbor, Saginaw VA Hospice, Vet’s Manor, 41 Freemont, Battle Creek, MI 49017, and caregivers, Mike Gillsillan and Beverly Kurburskey.
