KELLUM, Mrs. Lois Mildred - Age 81, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. George Bethel Church of God In Christ, 3801 M.L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mrs. Kellum will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday. The Life & Legacy of the “Simply Terrific” Lois Mildred Kellum. She departed this earth and went to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Lois was born July 17, 1937 in DeQueen, Arkansas, the daughter of JB and Eunice Bennett. She attended Sevier County High School. After moving to Flint, Michigan in 1964, Lois met and married the love of her life, Jettie Kellum on July 19, 1968. Together they had six children. Mother Kellum was known as “Ms. Terrific” because that’s what she always said when asked how she was, no matter how she was feeling or what she was going through she was always “Terrific”. Mother loved cooking, working in her yard planting flowers, singing, dancing, spending time with her family and going to church. But, most of all she loved the Lord! She was a faithful member of Kingdom First Church Of God In Christ for over 13 years, serving faithfully on the Mother’s Board. Mother Kellum was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, she took care of not just her children, but others as well. Mother Lois “Terrific” Kellum leaves to cherish her memory: loving husband of 51 years, Jettie Kellum; daughter, Valarie (Martin) Walker; 2 sonny boys, James Smith and Aurelio Kellum; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Alberdia Martin, Mary Frances (Eddie Lee) Johnson, all of DeQueen, AR and Etta (George) Atkins; brother, Donald (Cynthia) Bennett of Del City, OK; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including, special niece/daughter, LaTonja Bennett; special granddaughters, Tomika Bennett and Nakia Smith; and god-daughter, Noveé Pennyman. Mrs. Kellum was preceded in death by her 3 daughters, Evelyn Pitts, Thrada Smith and Angelia Kellum; grandson, Danny Pitts; parents, JB and Eunice Bennett; and 3 brothers, William Bennett, Leo Russell and Curtis Bennett. The family would like to express special thanks to Heartland Health Care Center, McLaren Hospice and staff, Pastor Antwain and Lady Tamisha Alexander, and the Kingdom First Church Of God In Christ family, loving sisters, Alberdia Martin and Etta Atkins, Mr. & Mrs. James Rideout, Ms. Gary Mabry, Paulette Pitts and Michelle Pitts.
