JONES, Mr. Lloyd - Age 73, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at North Delta Hospice Residence in South Haven, MS. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Family Worship Center Church International, 3280 N. Linden Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. James Hodo officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday. Hi my name is Lloyd Jones, my family and friends call me, “Daddy”, “granddad”, “great granddad”, “Cuz”, “Uncle”, or “Buddy”. I am 73 years old; I was born in Lucy, Tennessee on April 6, 1943. My parents are Molester Jones and Rosie Lee Sledge Jones. I moved to Flint, Michigan when I was 8 years old. I attended Flint Public Schools and Detroit College of Business. I served in the U.S. Army 1960-1963, Honorable Discharged. I was stationed with the 8th Infantry Division. While serving in Europe I had the opportunity to meet then Vice- President Lyndon B. Johnson and shake his hand. I saw how Communist people had to live, and helped patrol the Berlin Wall during the Bay of Pigs crisis with Cuba. I played in the U.S. Army Military Band as a Drummer which led to traveling throughout all of Europe. I was baptized on June 3, 1956 in Flint Michigan. I was a member of Joy Missionary Baptist Church prior to moving to Memphis, Tennessee where I became a member of Springdale Baptist Church. I was employed and retired from General Motors- Fisher Body #1 and Flint Metal Fabricating. I was chosen as the October Flint Metal Fabricating Veteran of the Month. I am Past Master of John W. Stevenson #56, and past member of Oman Temple #72. I worked with the Mr. Rogers “Say No” Program alongside of Mr. Greg Gaines, I enjoyed working in the community, mentoring young individuals, playing Dominoes, gardening, remodeling homes, traveling, entertaining and saying and doing things to make you laugh. I, my friend was a “sharp” dresser. DAPPER I might say… I leave to cherish my wife Salome Jones; 5 daughters, LaTina Renee Jones, LaTonya Michelle Jones, Deirdre Lynn Jones of Flint, Sherry Dent of Arkansas, and Lola Monet Jones of Memphis, TN; 2 sons, Jonathan (Rita) Bright of Columbia, SC, and Lloyd D.(Ayanna) Jones of Fort Wayne, IN; 2 brothers; Ronald Witherspoon and Shelby Warren; sister; Mary Warren, all of Flint; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; niece, Kecia Lynn Jones; great-nephew, Kylan Christopher Jones; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Stancel “Butch” Rushing, Greg Gaines, Roy Breed, and Deacon Lester Grady of Memphis, TN. I was preceded in death by my 1st wife, Lottie Mae Jones; my father, Molester Jones, my mother, Rosie Lee Jones; my stepmother Trilby Mae Jones; my 2 sisters, Minnie Jones and Annie Marshall Rials; and my grandson Tre Quan D. Jones. I transitioned from this world at North Delta Hospice House in Southaven, Mississippi on January 2, 2017, I was not alone. I pray that you all will be at peace and know that I am with my heavenly family now. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at North Delta Hospice House in Southaven, Mississippi, the staff at Baptist Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi, Cousins Tarita Jones, Suzanne Cross, Kecia L. Jones and the staff at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
