SCROGGINS, Ms. Lisa Lanette - Age 59, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at her residence. Family hour 12:00 PM Monday, March 20, 2023, at Every Nation Church, 429 NB Chavez Dr., with funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:00 PM Monday. Ms. Scroggins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Lisa Lanette Scroggins was born April 28, 1963, in Flint, Michigan. She is the daughter of Alverness (Thomas) Scroggins and James Homer Scroggins. Lisa was a lifelong resident of Flint, Michigan where she was a Former Member of The New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. Lisa attended various Churches in The Community, where she revered the word of The Lord. She is a (Viking) graduate of Flint Northern High School class of 1981. She earned her Associate Degree from Detroit College of Business class of 1985 where she majored in Computer Programming. Lisa pursued a teaching career with The Flint Community Schools making it a career that expanded for over 20 years. Lisa loved to live life to the fullest, modeling, singing, and traveling. Some of her favorite places to travel were to Georgia, California, Florida and the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. She loved nature whether it was planting flowers in her yard or some else’s garden or cutting grass. Lisa was very particular about her yard. In the summer she had beautiful flowers arrayed in her yard along her fence and on her porch.Lisa made sure to decorate for every holiday whether it was New Year’s or Christmas. Lisa will be missed by so many in the community that she helped. Her favorite thing was spending time with her tribe, including her grandchildren, children, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and close friends. Lisa truly enjoyed looking beautiful and smelling good and of course her signature white tip manicure. You could always find her laughing, joking and making loved ones’ smile. You could catch her singing and dancing to “I Like” by Guy and “My Girl” by the Temptations. She was a very honest, loving and caring woman. Lisa put spirituality at the forefront of her life. Lisa Lanette Scroggins leaves to cherish her memory: Her Tribe of six children and ten Grandchildren Timothy P. Rembert -Scroggins, Jonathan L. Rembert-Scroggins, Dredrick S. Scroggins, Tilisa M. Scroggins, Aliah L. Scroggins-Manfoumbi, and James J. (Coby) Scroggins and their father Timothy Rembert. She also leaves to cherish her beloved grandchildren Jakira Rembert, Joshua Haynes Jr., Cayden Patillo-Nixon, Kyrie Haynes, Iva Scroggins-Manfoumbi, Malaysia Scroggins, Ti’Asia Scroggins, Malayna Scroggins, Jacoby Scroggins, and Achulai Sanders-Scroggins; mother, Alverness (Thomas) Scroggins; brothers, Brian Scroggins, Roderick “Kevin” Scroggins. She also leaves to cherish Aunts Shirley A. Thomas, Della M. Thomas, Willie M. Thomas, Rose “Duck” Norris, Janice Duncan and Ruth Scroggins. Uncle, Kyser “Buchie” Thomas. Special loved ones Pamela Simmions, Maurice Simmons, Dwight Thomas, Neletta Thomas, Willie Davis, Trameka Davis-Lane, Shirley Stitt, Antonio Watkins, and Anthony Watkins. Lisa’s best friend of 45 years was Terry Claiborne and Terry Robinson. She will also be loved and missed by very Special Friends Mr. Charles Robinson and Mr. Ricky Barrie. Lisa was preceded in death by her Father James Homer Scroggins. Grandparents Charles and Rose Scroggins, Grandparents Kyser and Lillie Thomas, Aunts Isabella Aburtha, Maggie Simmons. Uncles Charles Thomas, Roy Scroggins, Donald Scroggins and Sam Jackson. Special Cousin Rose Mae (Scroggins) Shelton and Edris Thomas. The family would like to express special thanks to Every Nation Church (formerly Riverside Tabernacle) of Flint Michigan, Erma Polk, Marie Watkins, Jamila Wait-Vinvent, Maurice and Jamie Simmons and Family, Lydia Wilson and Family, her Dewey Street Family.
